About
Editor's Note: Course closed and redesigned as Cabot Citrus Farms.
The Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club is one of two championship golf courses at the club. Named after the numerous pine trees that cover the course especially along the fairways, it feels far removed from the Florida coasts. Tom Fazio designed the course and it is considered not only some of his best work, but one of the best courses in the state. It is a tight golf course that is notorious for its vast waste areas and bunkers. Although it has a modest length of 7,259 yards, there is plenty of length within the layout with many of the par 4s stretching past 400 yards. There are two small lakes that come into play. The fourth hole is one of the most well known, and most photographed, in the state. It is a par 5 with a treacherous waste area dominating the right side all the way to the green.

World Woods is #1 in the region !! Photo submitted by webbknight on 09/21/2012
Superb
It is time for a makeover of the clubhouse and parking facilities. That said this is one of those occasions when the course and practice facilities speaks volumes.
This is no quirky , fabricated golf course . It is a mature , brawny stronghold that exposes the weak and pretentious. It strips away the facade of those with weak plans of attack and a quiver filled with suspect command of their golf game.
Don’t come here if you don’t have full command of a power fade or draw off all the clubs in your bag . Length, control of distance, sand shots and accuracy on approach shots are premium.
Spend at least 30 minutes on the practice range honing these shots before you step on the course. The green undulations are subtle and the are fast.
Every short approach is punished.
It is a wonderful test of skills.
Highly recommended especially 4,8,911,12,14, 15 and 18. Frankly the course is a masterpiece.
Nice layout plenty of challenges
First time playing. Interesting layout, a few tricky shots but overall a good course. Condition was above average, good greens with plenty of undulations. I will play again for sure. Very slow play despite presence of ranger on course 5 hour round.
Exclamation Point!!!
As good as golf can get! Even when Pine Barrens isn't in primo condition, its still a treat to play a world class golf course. Never get tired of World Woods.
Could be great course with minor changes
World woods pine barrens is a great track, but over the years, the maintenance has gone down. There is more interest in pumping people
Through vs managing pace of play, maintaining fairways and greens. The staff is very friendly, but the ranger didn’t show up until hole 18. With a packed weekend like today, walkers should not be allowed in order to keep pace of play. Ahead of us were 2 walkers and 2 people in a cart making for a very slow round of 5 hours 15 minutes. Greens were also overgrown and very slow.
Great design and elevation changes.
Very nice course
Course was in good condition. The greens were a little slower then I like but we’re soft and receptive. Overall a very enjoyable day.
Florida course with Pinehurst feel
Getting the luxury to World Woods Pine Barrens course was a real treat. The value of playing here may be one of the best in the country. $100 bucks to play a top 100 course in the country in hard to beat.
The course layout is dynamite, and all the sandy dunes areas makes you feel like you are at a Pinehurst type course. Rough was dormant for this time of year, which is to be expected. The fairways were great and the greens were really good once they dried out a bit from the morning rain.
Loved the risk reward of alot of the holes. Especially the par 5 4th hole and the par 4 15th which is an outstanding hole. I went right which would provide you with a great angle to the green but I ended up in bush and double bogey was my score. The closing 3 are not the greatest holes but leading up to that you will not be disappointed.
Only downside is the aesthetics. The drive in is not great as the blacktop is not good and very bumpy, same with the cart paths. Clubhouse is similar needs a little updating. Range did look awesome and there is a putting course and a 3 hole preview course too.
All in all I highly recommend this place if your in the area. I have also heard great things about the sister course Rolling Oaks. World Woods is a must for any golfer.
Save your money
Greens are garbage. If you took all the grass from all the greens you may be able to get one maybe. DON’T WAIST YOUR TIME. Should’ve been given a free replay.
not worth the money
greens were just ok and course not worth the money
not worth the money
cart paths are horrible,.greens are good and course is not worth the money
