Nestled at the base of Mount Diablo, Deer Ridge Golf Club wanders through rolling, oak-dappled hills. The course has several challenging holes but the hazards are balanced by more player-friendly elements like wide, forgiving fairways and generous greens. There is also plenty of room off the tees and at just over 6,300 yards it is a manageable length as well. Though it is gentle enough for beginners, the thoughtful routing and hilly terrain keep it interesting for low handicappers. Deer Ridge Golf Club's front nine is more open and slightly less difficult, but the back nine gets a little trickier with more trees and more dramatic elevation changes coming into play. The terrain gives each hole a unique character and different challenges. The wind can also be a major factor. Good course management will be well rewarded.

Deer Ridge”Alias Coyote Point
Bring your mudders.Don’t drive on the fairways “like they can get any worse”Bring some sand for the bunkers! Make sure you disperse all the divot repair sand and bring a extra bag or two from the garden store!
Afternoon golf
Front nine was a little slow(Tournament), but they were great and let us play the front nine again and it took only 85 Minutes to complete the second nine. I feel they try to helpful.
Played on a golf now coupon.
GREAT TRACK!!
Gosh, for a short course from the forward tees, 5500 yds, this is a beast!! lots of sand to play in, speedy firm fairways, coupled with lighting fast greens, with subtle break. Breaking 80 isn't much of a challenge, if you can putt well, but changes are much greater if you can stay within 15 ft of the pin....If not, you'll whine like a baby, but my best advice is take the bogey, and be thankful....This course can yield triple bogey easily
Needs Marshalls to speed up play
First time playing and unfortunately a below average experience. I might play again on a weekday but probably wouldn't recommend it on a weekend.
Let me start off with the positives. The course layout was great with a nice variety of layouts per hole. Most holes are on the shorter side with good scoring opportunities. The fairways were decent with a few dry spots.
The biggest problem was pace of play. Tee time around noon on a Saturday and starting tee had 3 groups in front of us. First hole went smoothly but second hole had to wait for two groups on the tee. It just snowballed from their with hole 3 backed up with 4 groups in front of us on the tee. It took over 1 1/2 hours to finish the first 3 holes. I was playing in a foursome and we had to wait an average of 10 minutes per shot all day. Overall the round took almost 7 hours to play. We normally play in 3 hours per round. The greens were ok and and on the faster side but bumpy at times. As others have said the bunkers need sand. This could be a great course with better course management and some minor repairs.
I'll Be Back
First time playing the course and found it to be a good layout with plenty of challenging holes. I'm not a big fan of neighborhood courses but this one was well worth the experience. Having worked on courses growing up I found plenty of things that could have been better but overall experience and value was good. I'm looking forward to playing it again now that I've got a little local knowledge and will be looking to improve my score.
We played Deer Ridge in Brentwood at 9:30 am as a foursome and finished in about 4 hours.
The greens were mowed and rolled and fast. The
fairways were in good condition with some bare spots, which is typical in California.
Hillside course surrounded by housing, views of
surrounding hills and natural areas.
Great course for older players, greens are reachable .
Friendly staff.
Disappointing conditions
While putting on 3 greens, the sprinklers came on, soaking us and our clubs. Greens too firm and little sand in the traps. Very dsisppointing.
I like playing deer ridge and hope the course is not changed in the future.
Post Christmas golf with a friend
Started with a frost delay, but the starter Johnny, with a warm smile managed to get everyone out in great time. Weather was perfect, making the course in very good conditions.
Deerridge is a nice golf course and great staff very enjoyable day. Peace
