Kestrel Ridge Golf Club
About
Kestrel Ridge Golf Club in Columbus offers a fun getaway that is a just a quick drive from both Madison and Milwaukee. At just over 6,000 yards, it is a manageable length that beginners can approach with confidence. The terrain is mostly flat but there are some subtle undulations that can cause some tricky lies. The golf course, for the most part, is wide-open, though, a few mature trees border some of the fairways. A number of sparkling ponds dot the course, coming into play on a few holes. Kestrel Ridge Golf Club finishes with its signature hole, which claims to be the hardest two-shot par 4 to be found anywhere. This hole demands accuracy with a two-tiered fairway, sloped from left to right, that leads to a small landing area but after that you are then faced with a treacherous carry over a large rock ravine.

enjoyed
great time playing with another couple
will go back again soon
Club house staff seemed mad becuse we booked on line with Golfnow.com.
Club house staff needs big improvement.
Hot Deal was great value
Although the weather was very hot, the course was in excellent condition and the staff friendly and helpful.
Good variety of hole design.
a fun little course
The back nine offers more difficult holes
and is considerably less wide open than
the front, offering more variety of landscape.
Friendly Staff
The staff was extremely friendly & accommodating. Played another course in the early morning & was held up by rain for more than an hour. Had a 10am tee time & didn't show up until after 11am at Kestrel Ridge. Staff was great & gave me no hassle. It was a Thursday so not too many people on the course but I'm sure had it been a Saturday or Sunday they've would've done the same. Couse was not quite as nice as I expected but had played a round at a top notch that morning and later that afternoon so I may be comparing apples and oranges. I had heard wind was always a factor at Kestrel Ridge & it didn't disappoint. Very open & I could see wind adding a few strokes to each round. Overall a nice course but not a 5 star course. For $10 on GolfNow I can't complain!
Fun course
Nice course. A few holes that you really can't take a driver.
But is fun challenge. Friendly staff.
well kept course
My partner and I played on a sunny day with just a little wind. this course can really play havoc with your score when the wind is high. there are some very challenging pin positions and strategically placed bunkers. the rough isn't overly long but fair. i had a very good overall round, playing average on the front but shot a 40 on the back with 3 pars. worth trying out the course.
Worth the drive
I am 68 years old and play the course with my son about three times a year. It's a nice short course but it's very challenging. The staff is really friendly. It's worth the 62 mile drive from Wisconsin Dells to play. The course was in midsummer condition even on October 23rd.
WIND BLOWN CHALLENGE
SMALL GREENS ARE MUCH TOUGHER TO HIT & PUT WHEN THE WIND IS UP.
Kestral Ridge
If nothing else, yesterday was a beautiful day to be golfing anywhere. This course has been somewhat maligned because of course conditions. Yesterday was very good, though. Because of the lack of much rain throughout the summer, the course was in better condition than usual. The greens had been aerated earlier in the morning and there was a fine layer of sand on them. I would recommend play here, regardless of the price.
Challenging but good course for all ablities
Course has nice mix of challenges with water hazards & plenty of sand to get you into trouble. Nice course for beginning golfers. Greens aren't to fast nor do they have seriously hard to read putts. Good course to play in about 3 1/2-4 hrs. for a 3-4 some. Good food & bar area.
Good course for practice rounds
Play here often to just get in a round at the last minute.
Usually able to get good rates and course not very busy. If it is busy, the patrons are usually gracious about allowing someone to play through but not on this day. This is very unusual of this course. Of the 4 or 5 groups I caught up to, only one older gentlemen with two younger boys offered to let me play through. The others just kept on playing even when they looked back and saw me sitting there waiting for them to find their lost balls or finish on the tee box.
Will continue to play here but will be more careful about asking about number of groups out at the time I will play. This was a beautiful, early p.m., Friday so do understand how this could be with large number of players but surprised by the lack of etiquette..
Nice course but soooo windy
Nice good..courteous staff with nice facilities. First time playing the course and mondays are the day to go. Decent fairways but anything beyond is out of bounds.
Stay on the Fairway
I play this course all the time. The only problem for me is that I have an amateur's tendency to spray my drives. Although the fairways and rough are fairly wide, anything beyond that is either a lateral hazard or out of bounds on most holes. So hit it somewhat straight. Bunkers are strategically placed. The sand in them is less than desirable since it is often wet and heavy. The "final four" holes are the most challenging especially number 18 which has a blind narrow landing area with a chasm to the right and houses to the left. (Protected by screens). Almost no trees on the course but I did manage to hit the one off the number 8 tee box. Many of the par 4s are not too long neither are the par 3s. Overall I would give it a very good rating.
Horrible
This was easily the worst course I've ever played. The greens are all cracking (moss is the only thing that would make it do that) and are cut way too tight for the amount of rain. When playing tips there are at least 3 holes where the tee box is illegal and isn't even as long as the 2 driver rule. Irrigation is interesting as there are drains in the middle of fairways that are very significant. For standing water on some holes it shocks me how dry the greens where. Honestly looks like they don't have a super. Will never go back regardless of how cheep it is. .
Was not even open!
I drove over 30 miles to meet a friend who drove up from CHICAGO to golf! course wasn't open! Sign on door said "Will not be open if temps under 50 degrees! Nice! what a waiste of time! Never, Never, Never AGAIN!!!!
Fall golf
We played on the coldest and rainiest day of Sept. 2014. They even drove out to the first tee to offer us a voucher, but we played on and wasn't that bad. They have put in some long needed improvements to the cart paths, bunkers and drainage system. Should be in really good shape next year.
Good value and nice layout
Played this course for the first time on the way to the Dells, was worth it stopping here for a 1/3 of the price for courses in the Dells.
Round to remember
One of those days when everything was perfect. The course was basically empty, we played in just over 3 hrs. Broke 80 for the first time. Will definitely play here again.
