Fairways of Woodside Golf Course
About
Fairways of Woodside Golf Club is located just outside of Sussex, sprawling across the beautiful countryside of southeastern Wisconsin. The course is seemingly flat but there are a few subtle but challenging contours, overall a walkable course though. Water comes into play on 11 holes and nearly all of the greens have a bunker lurking nearby. One of the most memorable water holes is the par-3 12th where golfers will have to carry a large lake that juts in front of the green. The monstrous 15th hole is another tough one. This par 5 is a double dogleg where even the best golfers have a hard time making it to the green in two. It is a challenging golf course but most of the hole are straightforward and not overly punishing if you're errant.

Great shape
This course is in great shape. They could keep the sand raked more often but otherwise very nice. Beverage cart could be out earlier in the day also. Well worth the money.
course continues to slide
I used to play this course 4-5 times a year. I told myself last year after playing it and finding poor conditions I would stay away. Well went back due to a great Hot Deal and found that again the conditions of the course continue to slide. The back 9 tee boxes and greens are a joke. So many bumps and ball marks on the greens. Rough was bare in a lot of areas, around the greens. The front nine the greens at best would be avg.. 4-5 years ago the course condition where awesome. Always liked the easy front nine and it got your hopes up for a great score until the back nine tossed a couple of 8's on the score card. Will not be back unless I hear of conditions of greens and tee boxes improving.
this was a good test
Despite the recent rains the course was in good shape. The staff was friendly and helpful.
2 different nines back tough!
Starts with an almost drivable Par 4 to get you warmed up through the first nine, then comes the back nine! A much stiffer challenge mainly due to the many woods
Tale of 2 nines...
First time to this course in a while, and it's what I remembered. Overall, the course was in pretty good shape, including greens that rolled very true. The most intriguing thing about this course is the difference between front and back. The front is straight forward, not real tough, and you can log a good score. The back nine is very long, very tough, and even for a good player, double bogeys are a possibility on almost every hole. If you're only playing 9, ask to play the side that best suits your game. One last thing: while it's a relatively flat course which should be good for walkers, there are several spots with REALLY long distance between holes, making it difficult for those who aren't pretty fit. All in all, a solid course for a decent price.
not bad
it was a great deal. However could have used more cart girls. Also greens where very slow.
Great value
Not too far away from dtown Mke. The front nine was short 3000 from the tips but the back was nice 3500 from tips. Well manicured fairways and the greens have some bumps but for under $50 w cart I would go back anytime.
Shines no more
This course used to be one of the hidden gems of the Milwaukee-Waukesha area, now it is no better than a low end county course. Greens and tee boxes are severely damaged. Greens would not hold a shot, my guess is they have not been aerated in some time. Rough was extremely long and full of dandelions and clover, finding your ball off the fairway made for a long day, pace was quite slow.
Ok....Not great
Very short on Front and very long on Back. It is really a tale of two nines. The back tees are too far back. Most holes from the back are over 400 yards. The par 3s are too long also.... you can't get high enough to land it on the green.
Fairways of Woodside
I played in the rain yesterday and I loved it. The course is phenomenal. Very challenging.
fun
this is a good course and very nice people blablablabla
great course for the price
everything was good - only complaint was the foursome ahead that would not let our twosome play through
Tale of two "sides"
The course was in good shape - good value for the $35 we paid. The greens were in good shape but could afford to be cut shorter as they rolled slow. The rest of the course was in nice shape. The front nine is fairly easy, the back nine is pretty challenging. We are both under a 5 handicap and played the back tees.
Fun to play
Front nine was fun, back nine was tough. I shot a 39 front and a 47 back. If your off a little on the back you pay the price big time. Greens were in good shape. Fun to putt on, smooth and they were fast.
Great course with bentgrass greens and fairways.
The course is in great shape. The front nine is a good warm up for the more challanging back nine.
Beautiful & well kept up!
Great conditioned course. Friendly staff. Clean & beautiful facility. Don't let the easier front 9 fool you. The middle 3 or 4 holes on the back side will give you a reality check. Playable for all skill levels. Loved it!
One of the best courses in the Milwaukee area
I like the mix between the front nine which is relatively short but interesting and the back nine which is wooded, longer and more challenging.
Very different Front to Back
Fun course to play if you like variety! Front 9 plays shorter, with all but 1 hole fairly open.
Back 9 plays much more position oriented, with long narrow wooded fairways.
Course was in great shape all last year, even with the drought.
