Invest in Sleeves of Balls
I'm not a great golfer, so for me drives in the fairway are more of an aspirational goal than they are a common occurrence. Unfortunately for me, this course is relatively tight, so my lack of ball control leads to more investments in golf balls than in refreshments. That being said, one of my party managed to lose eight balls but find nine while he was looking for his so your mileage may vary. :)
Great course, though, if you don't mind a lot of ups and downs. It was hot when we played and some of the greens felt like Masters greens - you tap it and if you miss the hole suddenly your 6-foot birdie putt turns into a 20-foot par putt from the fringe.
If you're looking for a low score to make yourself feel good about picking this sport this probably isn't the course for you, but if you want to have a good time with a great staff and a fun course you'll find it here.
Excellent course with a beautiful scenery
Would highly recommend this course as it has a great layout with beautiful scenery and it's in great condition.
Over Priced
Not a bad track. Greens were in good shape. Bunkers were okay. Just not worth the price they charge in the morning. I would play it for 60-70 but not 95. Just pay the extra 15 and go to one of the nicer courses in the area.
Plan for 5 hours
Great course. Exceptionally maintained. But the pace of play was BRUTAL. Especially for NOT being cart path only. It was so slow my golf gps app asked me if I was still playing. No joke. Don’t play after 1230pm if you have early dinner plans after the round. They didn’t have a Marshall out either. That may have helped.
We really enjoyed the layout of the course.
The layout of each hole was great and provided great views.
golf trip
Pace of play was slow due to groups ahead of us, which a group of 4 became a group of 6, even after the starter told them at the first tee that they had to split up. Well, out of sight, guess what happened???
Greens in great shape for March. Fun layout. Have really improved course condition in recent years.
Margaritaville
The course was in great shape, greens were awesome but lightning fast. Great course but I am still trying to figure out #4 hours later. Should be a par 3 and the blue tee boxes should be moved behind the whites. I used a lob wedge from the blues to layup what was a very driveable shot from the whites.
Fun course
First round of 2021, was surprised it wasn’t cart path only, there are holes in the summer that get too soggy for carts. Wasn’t too busy so after playing thru a couple groups moved along pretty good, 3 hour round, but that’s not the norm most of the time. Greens were smooth and true. Can’t wait to go back when it greens up more and the Dogwoods are in bloom.
Called the oaks for a reason
Fairly good layout. Lots of blind tee shots over hills and ridges. The edges of most fairways slope out into the trees and valleys with little or no grass to slow them. The worst part of the day was the leaves. We didn't see any staff anywhere trying to clear the leaves out of the fairways or the roughs. So every shot was a search even if you knew right where it was. That tends to wear on you hole after hole. Greens were fast and smooth if they weren't covered in leaves.
