Love this course!
I try to play this course when I get to the Portland area. The staff in the pro shop have treated me like a regular since my very first time. They are wonderful! The starter always hooks me up with perfect playing partners. Twice I was able to be paired with Ladies Club members and twice with guys who play the course 4-5 times/week.
It's like playing 2 completely different courses! The front 9 is challenging but forgiving. The back 9 kicks your butt no matter how good you are!
I played in a 4-day series of rainy courses in Portland on this trip. This course was in the best shape of the 4!
Firm
First time I've played this course. Made the drive from Hillsboro and it was well worth it. This is the best winter course to play in Oregon besides bandon dunes. We didn't have 1 ball plug and had drives rolling and bouncing down most fairways. Highly recommend this course for winter play for above average players
Corse conditions
Quite possibly the best course in the region for winter play. Bunkers are in good shape considering the amount of rain. Greens are always tru, fast, and firm year around.
Best Public Course in Portland.
Stone Creek still delivers a well laid out, well run course. Pace of play was perfect, fairways dry as always, but greens were inconsistent and bumpy, which is to be expected with the weather at this time of year. Overall a very enjoyable round with a great group.
Love this track!!!
Stonecreek is one of the best draining golf courses in the area. Even after 1.3" of rain fell the night before, it was still in good shape!!!
One of my favorite local courses
A challenging course, especially the back nine. The course was in fine shape, especially for this time of year.
Portland's Hidden Gem
This Peter Jacobson course just outside of Portland is every golfer's dream. The greens are always amazing and the grass is always green. If you're up for a challenge, this is the course. Plenty of bunkers and hazards you may find yourself in. Easily one of my favorites in the Portland area.
Busy day on the weekends
shotgun tournament in the morning...very busy in the afternoons, marshals out to keep groups moving quicker play...
Too Bad
17 great holes! 14 is a disaster. A total after thought! Putt Putt par three that could be so much better and a shame it was late in the round. The holes around it up and down the ravine were very challenging but 14 really does let you down. Played the course twice over the week and one day the regular green at 14 was used and the second day the alternate green was used. Very short Par 3's which only needed windmills to be complete. The hole could be easily lengthened and made much more playable by adding some tee boxes and taking some trees out to the right of the regular green to allow the sun to get onto the surface. The green could be made larger by cutting into the hill. Hate to complain but 14 really is silly in it's current state.
Stone creek
This was one of the best I have played in a long time, two thumbs up and will now return to play again.
Great Day
Came out as a single and joined a great group of players. The course is in great shape and they have a great IPA in the beverage cart. What's wrong with that?
Good course but very slow play
The course is in great shape and super fun to play but pace of play is soooo slow. Expect 5 hour rounds Thursday-Sunday.
Another great round
I've come to expect great course conditions and a challenge to every aspect of my game when I play Stone Creek. This week the course offered extra helpings of both great play and challenge. Fairways and greens were in good shape, though the grass coloring was a little mottled which always perplexes my read of the break. I was a little disheartened to see that we were still playing the extra short temporary green on 14 - is the back green ever going to open again?
The weather was overcast and we did get a few sprinkles on the last 3 holes, but that didn't stop me from walking off with a par on 18, and best score of the year.
Decent course; excellent value
My wife and I paid $60 for the two of us to play including a cart. I would not pay much more for this course. It's wide and forgiving esp. on the front; nice for high handicap players (we're a 23 and 29) .
The back is more challenging and tricked up. The tee shot on #13 is blind and the promised mirror is nowhere to be seen. There was a long delay on the par 3 14th -- poor course design and layout there.
The forward tee boxes were often located in odd spots with poor access through long grass -- women players ought not be treated as an afterthought.
No staff greeting at the end of the round when returning the cart.
Always enjoy this course
Played 6/15 as part of a 4some. Course was in very nice condition. Greens were medium-fast, and rolled well. They do not break as much as they appear. Pace of play was fine: finished in 4.5 hours. Course has a good mix of easy, medium and tough holes. The course has some water hazards and quite a few areas of "native grass". These areas can be very penal if you get into them. This is the 4th time I have played here, and I've found the course to be both challenging and fun. The biggest defense the course has is the wind, Clubhouse is minimal, but the food area has a good selection of food and beverages. I would recommend playing here, but only if you can get a deal. Their regular price seems quite high.
Excellent design
Wonderful diversity in design of holes. Only one issue on 12 as a temporary green is in use. Fun and challenging to play.
GREAT VIEWS, GREAT COURSE!
Love this golf course! Friendly staff and fairly good pace. Long sweeping fairways with many doglegs and tough par 3s. Lots of large trees and woods. Don't get in the tall fescue, it's a killer! Played on a Thursday and there was a beverage cart which came around frequently. The bunkers have nice fine grey sand. Greens were in almost perfect shape after plugging and sanding 3 weeks prior. They will be very fast soon! We will definitely be back!!
