A course where you can leave the driver in the bag.
This course was in pretty good shape the day after be poured on by all day rains. It was the first time that I played the course. I can routinely hit my driver in the 310 to 320 range, and realized that this course would not require that kind of distance off the tee at all. I left my driver in the bag for all but two holes and probably would have been better served only to use it once. If you can hit a club in the 230-250 range off the tee, that is all that you will need. This course is pretty tight in spots and accuracy is more important than distance off the tee here. Some of the greens are small, so it does help to have a good short game because you will have to be able to hit some great chops and pitch shots. Even though I love the grip it and rip mentality, I actually liked playing a course that made you hit irons off the tee, or a hybrid in some cases. I would not take some o e who is a beginner here or someone who sprays the ball around, I just think it would be too penalizing of a course for them. I would go back there to enjoy a round.
Mow!
I stopped by this course earlier in the week; I talked with two guys in the parking lot and they raved about the course and conditions. I saw it as a hot deal and bought it. The greens were bumpy and not yet healed from the aerification. The fairways were mowed but that was it. It's one thing to see 6" rough OB but just off the fairway, no. Around the greens varied from 1"-5". I started out behind a foursome and they took forever to find balls just a yard or two off the fairway. I lost three myself that shouldn't have been lost. If I hadn't gotten such a bargain, I would've left.
Course in bad shape!
Course was in bad shape with half the fairways dead. Probably half of the tee boxes were also in bad shape. The office closed when we got off the front nine at 4:30 so we couldn't get a snack or anything. There was no water available on the course so bring your own drinks. Our battery powered cart died on us a couple holes before the finish. I would not go back fo rnay amount of money. I wouldn't play the course for free!
