Unprofessional Communication
First of all the course had 9 of the holes shut down for repair and that was not communicated when I booked the tee time. Also the 9 hole course was packed with players including 2 fivesomes I noticed.. Me and my friend ended up playing 10 of the 18 holes We paid for due to time restraints caused by the overbooked course. I would have cancelled and played elsewhere if I had known
Great Course
The course was in excellent shape- especially the greens. The staff was friendly and the free course guide was helpful.
Pretty course
The staff was friendly. The greens and fairways were in great shape.
Kentucky Hills
Overall good course. Couple tee boxes needed some love. Had to drive up in cart to see where to hit on couple holes. Greens were in good shape. Tough couple holes, you hit long you be OK. Played blues shot 82. Short downhill part 3 on back, sand wedge at most. Definitely worth trip for me.
One of the best around!
Always liked this course, and it just keeps getting better! Owner and staff are great and the playing conditions are excellent!
Horrible..Waist of Money..DO NOT PLAY
Played this course once before and I do know remember it being in this bad of shape...And I would have remember cause this course is horrible..Tee Boxes was long and was like hitting out of your unmowed yard, greens was the worse greens we have played on all year, long, patchy, just flat out horrible...It was a total waist of money for me and my buddy ...We chose to play this course over 2 other Lexington courses and regretted it after hole 2...Will not play this course again ...Better off to play The Battlefield, Lakeside, Southwind if you are in the area instead of this course they are better priced and in better shape... I WAISTED MY MONEY AND A GREAT DAY FOR GOLF ON A HORRIBLE GOLF COURSE!!!
Disappointment All Around
I've played this course many times, and it seems to have gone downhill in 2017.
To begin, I called - the day before!! - and specifically requested a tee time after 5:00pm, and was told that their system wouldn't make tee times after 5:00, but that it was wide open. I asked again about any conflicts with leagues, etc, and was assured none existed. We arrived at the course to learn that there was a scramble taking place and that the front 9 was closed, and we would be able to play the back 9 only. We had already made the drive from Lexington, so we begrudgingly agreed. Further, the staff in the pro shop didn't offer any sort of apology for the miscommunication, rather just some sort of apathetic "I don't know what happened."
Play began on #10, and by the tee box on #11, we were held up by a foursome playing in front of us (there were 3 in our group). The group in front of us played mind-numbingly slow for the entirety of the 9 holes (it took 2.5 hours to complete play) and didn't invite us to play through, despite the significant waits we experienced on each tee (in hindsight, we should have just skipped them but we only had 9 holes to play). Poor etiquette at a minimum by the group in front of us (not the course's fault) and no marshal to help with pace of play (within the course's control).
In addition to the poor management of tee times/scheduling and on-course play, the condition of the course was quite poor. Tee boxes were overgrown and not level, fairways were inconsistent and shaggy, greens had large patches of dirt throughout, and there was evidence - on multiple tee boxes - of moles/gophers.
I've played this course many times, and this was by far the worst experience I've had. I don't know if it's under new ownership/management or if they are doing so well, they don't care how they treat their guests, or it's something else entirely. Regardless, the experience was a very negative one.
Great layout and can be a fun course, but it seems like they need to get their act together - management, staff and course condition.
Disappointed in the greens/Need a Marshall
I found a hot deal on golf now and played for under $20. I have played this course many times before and have always enjoyed it very much. I was extremely disappointed this time with the condition and the speed of the greens. There are many bare spots on several greens and what looked like tracks from equipment. I love fast greens, although I am not the best putter I usually lag very well but found myself facing many 5-6 foot second putts because they were so slow.
My other issue was that from the very first tee, my foursome got behind an extremely slow threesome. We literally waited on every tee for several minutes, there were at least four holes open in front of them. We finally became so frustrated that we skipped a hole and went around them. Would have loved to have seen a Marshall take care of this situation.
I sincerely hope they get these issues corrected because this is normally a really nice course.
Decent track but greens were slow
Greens not in best of condition relative other courses at same price point. Greens also slow, probably a 8-9 on the stempmeter.
Excellent Value
Everything was great..staff, layout, price, and condition was good. Good would have been an excellent rating except on this day I found the greens to be lacking compared to my earlier rounds played there. Lots of dead spots..they need rolling.. and more ball marks than I could repair of which I did many on each hole. A large sign needs to be placed at the counter and staff needs to state the importance of ball mark repair to each player as they check in. Fairways were in excellent condition. Other than the greens problem, this is a beautiful layout, perhaps the best around. I will play again.
Good Course
I have played this course many times. It is always challenging. Sometimes you can play 18 holes in 3 hours; at other times, it can take 5.5. You never know.
Great Place!
The course keeps getting better! Conditions had been wet, but the course was in great shape. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Will be bringing visitors when they come this way!
Booked through golf now and arrived at the course to find 3 or 4 other walkin parties in front of me. Will not be back to the bull due to this. Pace of play is a big thing in golf now and most golfers don't have time for a 5 hour round.
A perfect day
Unlike myself, the course is in great shape. As a double bogey golfer I found it both challenging and a lot of fun. It has a good mix of sand, water, trees, etc., to make each shot exciting (or frustrating lol). We also found the clubhouse staff to be very friendly and professional. The clubhouse and course are all well maintained and make for a beautiful place to spend a day outdoors.
A good all-around course. An excellent mix of par 3's, long par 4's, and a par 5 that will make you think about how you want to play it.
Even with all the recent rain (and there has been a lot of rain ) the course was in excellent condition.
Highly recommend this course. Open fairways with plenty of challenges from some trees that make things interesting, water that is intent on collecting balls and sand that lets you occasionally take a stroll on the beach.
