One and done
I drove A long way to try this course out for the first time because it was inexpensive. It was OK but I think it will be the only time I play it because there are better courses in the area. Of course they cost more but this one had a few things I really didn’t like.
There’s no driving range. There is just a hitting cage with some old beat up balls in it. It’s right next to the parking lot and there’s two people in there. It’s very crowded. There is a practice green right by the starter at whole one but it was hard to find. I didn’t really even know it was there until I went down to start my round.
The front nine was pretty hard, but I’m not that good of a golfer lol. The back opens up a lot more and has beautiful views and lots of elevation changes in the foothills, which is pretty nice. The fairways were hard dirt or hard dead grass. It was pretty, but poor conditions.
The greens had large gashes through them as though their rollers or their mowers were broken. They were long gashes about 3/4 of an inch wide, all the way across the putting surface, on holes 10 through 14 that made my putts bounce and miss. Honestly, this is inexcusable.
The foursome in front of us were playing multiple balls, and driving carts all over the fairway when it was a CPO day There was no enforcement, no ranger, and we tried yelling at them several times, but they didn’t listen to us. Finally, someone was yelling at them while on 18 , while we were standing on the tee box, waiting for them as they did seven circles in their cart and hit multiple balls, but they ignored them and kept on doing what they were doing. It was very disrespectful and the course did nothing about it.
ONE OF IE's BEST VALUES
Had a 10AM tee time on a Saturday. Ended up being sent immediately to the first tee without much of a chance to warm up but appreciated the early start. The course itself is in "good winter condition" (mostly brown with some wet spots but very playable). Ended up finishing right around four and a half hours for a Saturday.
As a course, holes 1-9 provide a decent challenge with quarry-like backdrops and scenic views. Holes 10-18 are the more notable part of the course with longer par 4's, significant elevation changes, and the aptly-named "Dos Lagos" to maneuver (The toughest being The Par 5 14th, measuring 613 yards from the tips that climbs steeply uphill about 200 yards from the hole); leaving plenty of time for panoramic pictures and challenging approaches.
Even though the well-known courses of Oak Quarry and Eagle Glen are more prominent close to this course, it holds its own in terms of a great layout and a great value. Would play again given the opportunity!
Fun yet challenging
Course has a great layout and some “fun” hazards. Highly recommend! Views are spectacular, too.
Good value, beautiful scenery
Pace of play was a little on the slow side. There was a tournament just wrapping up when we started. Seems to bottleneck on hole 3 and maybe 5, so if it's crowded you might be waiting to tee off. Absolutely beautiful course and views throughout the course.
Nice course!
Tight course on the front then opens up on the back nine. No GPS on carts so you will need an AP on your phone.
Interesting but difficult layout - Poor conditions
The course had an interesting but difficult.
The good:
-Great views
-Interesting course to play
-Very different layout compared to other courses
The bad:
-As a single they gave me a cart at the pro shop, but then when you are just about to tee off on the 1st hole, they take your cart away and make you pair up with somebody else. The Marshall on the first hole said this is how they always do it, pretty stupid if he asked me.
-The first nine greens were in horrid condition. Everyone of them had big giant strips or cuts in them. If you’re putting across those strips, your puts would bounce around from side to side.
-Even though the course is very interesting, there are a few spots that are excessively difficult.
-The sand traps are in horrible shape. Some even have big rocks all through them. All were very hard, no soft sand anywhere.
-This could be considered a $100 course if they fixed it up, but right now it’s only worth $40.
-No range, just a mat that hits into a net.
-Pace of play on the first nine holes was very slow.
Staff is excellent
Always friendly and make the experience pleasant. Course is in great shape after all the rain.
What Fun !
I happened to have hit the perfect day at the perfect time to play a round at the Dos. I arrived for my tee time on time, and was on the first tee in less than 20 minutes from check in. To my joy and surprise, the starter assigned me my own cart, so I didn’t have to share with a stranger, which is one of my pet peeves about being a single golfer. The course has equal amount of easy holes, challenging holes, and two or three uphill/ side hill insane holes due to elevation changes that the designer had to work around. Dos Lagos is not a traditional course, and that makes it unique but fun. The greens are well maintained, and although sometimes difficult to read, the putts roll true. It appears that not enough players take the time to repair their ballparks, so that leaves it to me to fix their neglect. Another negative is that groups are not waving up the next group on the par threes that are mostly long and difficult. It would probably shave at least a half hour off the round if that particular etiquette was suggested and enforced. Also, since some of the fairways are close together, and most spray their shots all over the place, there’s a good chance someone is gonna drive their ball on your fairway, and play your ball instead of making sure they are playing their own. Another bummer is that when someone hits their ball on your fairway, they don’t wait for you to play your ball first, and make you wait till they hit theirs, which again, is not good golf etiquette.
But overall, by far, the positives outweigh the negatives by a long shot…or even by a short shot! Oh…and the course plays fast, so get happy that you’ll be hitting some of your longest drives of the year!
Scored Greens
First time playing here. Pretty fun layout, just wish there was a heads up that half the greens in the front 9 were ruined like someone drove over them mad at the world. Will play again in 3-4 months once the greens are hopefully repaired.
