Cullen Golf Club
About
At less than 5,000 yards from the back tees, Cullen Golf Club doesn't present much of a challenge on paper. But Cullen's astounding scenery and diverse holes make it a quirky and entertaining round for locals and for those looking for fun golf courses to play during a Scotland golf vacation.
Designed by the legendary Old Tom Morris, the front nine at Cullen Golf Club take you next to the cliffs overlooking the Moray Firth Coast, while the back nine leads you back to beach level, making an 18-hole round at Cullen Golf Club a scenic delight that will have golfers gasping in awe at its meticulous beauty. And while the scenery is indeed stunning, the level of play also stands out.
The 510-yard par-5 No. 15 hole will have long hitters pulling out their big guns, while the No. 14, a par-3, features the 80 foot Boar Crag to navigate. All told, Cullen Golf Club is a stunning addition to an already brilliant golf region.

Really enjoyable
A must play course. People so friendly. Will play every time I'm in the area.
A Golfers Playground
Fun and exciting course for all levels. The views and scenery are added bonus and the people at the club are the finest of folk!
Great wee course
Fantastic par 3 & 4 course overlooking Cullen, will play again and look forward to it. If windy this course can be tricky.
Great quality for the money.
Good course for an excellent rate. A fun course with not much danger to lose a ball. A test of short to mid game with a couple of longer holes thrown in. Would reccomend and will be back.
Must Play This Golf Course
An absolute gem of a golf course. Played Cullen GC yesterday in sunny weather with a slight breeze from the sea. Some stunning holes particularly 2,4,7,9,11,12,13,14,15&17, which would all test any golfer. Four blind holes (2,4,12&13) that I would love to play again although I was level par for these holes. Playing off white tees there are some really testing, long par 3s and a few shorter par 4s and although I played to my handicap (7) I was fortunate as I managed to chip in twice. The greens were excellent and true without being too quick for links golf and the scenery was spectacular. You must play this golf course and I will certainly be back soon.
Cullen Links Golf Course
What a gem of a golf course! This is already become one of my favourite golf courses. I have never played a course with so many hidden greens, amazing Tees and the scenery is awesome , not only in appearance, but in feel and course layout. The Links are next to the beach, with hazards if the ball is not flighted in the correct path. Loads of birdie opportunities and a great par 5 to really go for. I actually went round in 68, 5 over , which for a 19 handicapper , was sensational. The welcome is friendly and the local members on course were knowledgeable and made me feel special. Highly recommend, and this course must be on everyone’s Golf Course Bucket List.
Golf on the beach!
Friendly club and members welcomed us for the first time to this beautiful links course which climbed the cliff tops and came down an interesting par 3 from an elevated tee to the green below. Managed to drive the green and went round in 86 but we had good weather. I can imagine this is an even tougher course when it’s blowing a hoolie! Most enjoyable course I have played in many years. Play off the white tees to make the course that bit longer.
Nice Little Course
Really enjoyed my round at Cullen. It’s a short course but it’s still a test with a number of blind shots and also when the wind blows! Staff were very friendly, would play again.
Crazy golf
we had so much fun on this beautiful course. Heard about it on the no laying up podcast.
We laughed out loud at the prospect of some holes.
Spectacular, but dry
The course was very dry. Greens ok and the staff was very helpfull
Fantastic
As always Cullen was in fantastic condition. Beautiful greens and it is a challenging and exciting layout. Friendly drink in the clubhouse afterwards although there was no catering on the day we visited.
Unique links course
Wet damp and breezy day did not take away from a stunningly different course with stunning views greens and fairways vgood condition next time in Scotland will be back
A proper holiday course
It's just my opinion!
Round in 1hr 45 minutes with the family on the adjacent excellent beach! It's short and great fun.
Greens 7/10
Fairways and greens good.
5 great holes 7,10,11,13,14
13 good holes Some interesting holes that are odd the first time they are played (2 completely blind par 3s).
The 5 holes on the higher ground don't play like true links holes.
Paid £14. Rate £22. Definitely value for money.
Play again- absolutely.
Scottish Uniqueness
This course is a one of a kind. There are plenty of blind shots and the setting has red rocks which look like they belong in the Bay of Fundy. Don't let the par of 63 put you off. Plenty of the par 3s are over 200 yards. Did I mention that this links was first routed by Old Tom?
The routing is unique as is the setting and par. There are uphill and downhill par 3s, blind shots, etc. It all adds to the charm of the place. You will not find a course like this one anywhere. Reminded me of Shiskine in that it is one of a kind.
Then there is the value-26 pounds (about $32) for a day ticket during the week. The locals say that plenty of people go around 3 times-I did twice. If you are about a championship test, not sure how much you'd like this place. If you want something unique at an incredible value-come here. Not many do, so the rounds were quick. Off the course, this is a proper golf club with a putting green, restaurant and locker room. In the clubhouse-get the Cullen Skink.
For value, this is amazing. Playing golf on what was once ocean floor is great too. Couldn't recommend a trip of courses only like this, but if you are around the area and playing some championship courses, this would be something completely different. If you are looking for an "Only in Scotland' day, then come here.
Hidden Gem
Cullen Links really is a hidden gem in more ways than one. It is a unique par of 63 with blind holes and stunning views. Course difficulty is very dependant on the wind where it can really put a golfers grit and determination to the fore.
