Pumpherston Golf Club
About
Pumpherston Golf Club, designed by Graeme Webster, offers a superior golfing challenge, including water features over the length of the 6,000-yard, par-70 golf course and R&A-standard greens.
A round at Pumpherston Golf Club begins on Paraffin Young, a 398-yard par 4 that requires a straight drive and attention on hazards surrounding the green: bunkers right, deep rough behind. Hitters unpack long games on Pentlands, the 516-yard par-5 10th, which features a narrow fairway, requiring a straight tee shot; 150 yards from the green, the fairway drops, making a tricky approach. Close the round on Iranapol, another long hole, at 505 yards and par 5, and where water guards the green, meaning that length alone won't help you.
Book a seat in the Pumpherston Golf Club's clubhouse early - and let the clubhouse caterer know about any dietary restrictions, which the staff can work with - and head up for lunch and a drink with views of the golf course.

Hidden gem
Played the course today and I have to say it was a pleasure . Course was in superb condition . The course had so much character and didn’t fail to impress. Will 100% play again. Definitely one of Scotland’s “hidden gems”.
Entertaining
Thoroughly enjoyed our round here. Great condition, interesting holes. Well worth the visit and Ill definitely be back. Top marks for the ground staff.
Excellent Course!
I had seen some of the previous negative reviews and in all honesty had been kind of put off playing here by them. But I thought I'd play the course and see for myself. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and maybe they caught the course on a bad day? But how very misleading and just plain wrong they were. The course was in immaculate condition, and despite being extremely quiet the grounds staff were out in force. And hats off to them. Ive played 90% of the courses around Edinburgh since the turn of they year and condition wise this was right up there. Every bunker was expertly raked for a start. The course is really lovely with lots of water features and dog legs to make you think about your shots and I thoroughly enjoyed playing here. I will definitely be back! A steal at £20 a round.
Best value for money
This course is an absolute steal for the price to play.
Weather wasn’t the greatest but the course was playing fantastic.
Great ground staff who are totally aware if they are making too much noise on machinery, line of shot etc
Some real challenges out there but also some holes that give back and make it really enjoyable for a higher handicapper.
An absolute joy to play this course and will be bringing more friends back!
Decent challenge
Course was in good condition and had a good mix of par 3s 4s and 5s with a few blind tee shots, but do not wear an illuminous top when the sun is shining as I was swarmed with flys
Mud pit
Only let you play front nine twice
Did not say this till you turn up at coarce
Mud was over top of shoe on all the holes
And tees where 30yds forward not good
And paid full price I would say give it a miss till summer

A wee bit muddy ...
Interesting layout but a fair walk between some holes. Got lost between 16th green and 17th tee !
Would be a nice course when the ground is drier - very wet and muddy underfoot.
Lots of drainage work required ...
Course closed short notice
Only got text through to say course closed 15 mins before t off.
Great features
Great course but when we went the course was soaking wet advise to play in summer
Jed hiroz
The course was in really bad shape with the recent weather, completely boggy and cut up. Probably should be closed for a Week or so to settle
Good range of challenges
I really enjoyed playing this course. Good balance between short and long par 4s, par 3s and par 5s. Some very picturesque features on a beautiful day at the course
Nice course and great value. However, very wet with not much drainage made playing conditions worse than expected. Played other courses after similar rain recently that seemed to have drained a lot better.
