Glencorse Golf Club was voted a hidden Scottish hidden gem by Sports Illustrated. It's not hard to see why: Founded in 1890, the club was designed by Willie Park and claims top golfers as members. Among them are the former Walker Cup Captain George Macgregor and the former Ryder Cup Captain Bernard Gallagher.

Glencorse Golf Club offers 18 holes and 5,217 yards of parkland golf that, even with eight par 3s, provides a hearty challenge: Only one hole of this octet measures less than 200 yards. The golf course provides a solid day for golfers of all levels.

As a bonus for golf tourists who are also regular tourists, Glencorse Golf Club sits nine miles from Edinburgh Castle and the city center, and a mile from Rosslyn Chapel, featured in "The Da Vinci Code."

Glencorse - hidden gem

I have driven past this course many times but never had a chance to play before yesterday. I was very impressed lovely scenery and well kept course. Greens ran very pure and for being a short course, plenty of danger whether It was a tight fairway or a water obstacle. The pro in the shop was also very friendly, just a lovely vibe at the club. I will definentily visit again.

Up and downy magic

Initially, seemed a bit starchy: loads of rules in the car park and next to 1st tee ("no practice swings"), but regulars I spoke to were very pleasant.
Lots to think about on this course; sometimes the further you hit it, the narrower it gets - better to lay up.
Some magical downhill par 3 's out of the trees.
Greens v good and tees mostly OK - just wonder why a lot slope away from right handers.
Next hole markers very important as this is a twisty windy course.
Last hole is the best - magnificent vista of downward slope, then uphill to green, clubhouse and Pentlands in the background.
Enjoyed

Highly recommend this challenging gem

Further to my previous review this time we managed a full round and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. Last time on the course it was Autumn now the course is in its prime. The challenges this course throws up is as varied as you can imagine. On some holes you have a nice open wide fairway to aim for others you have treelined fairway. There are elevated tees heading for beautifully placed and challenging greens, to low set tees where an accurate drive up steep incline to a blind pin. Please put this on your list to try out. You will not be disappointed. One final note all the staff and other users we met gave us a very warm welcome and made the round even more enjoyable.

Good long iron accuracy test

Lovely course, around 7 par 3s just around 200 yards, found it a real test. Staff very friendly, chap when we arrived was very welcoming. Course in great condition and although not long with no par 5s I throughly enjoyed it and look forward to playing again.

Hidden Gem.

An absolute wee hidden gem of a course. Myself and my friend had a free afternoon. We asked if possible to play nine holes. We were given a very warm welcome. Loved the course very much. Each hole we played was very scenic and a lot of the holes have water in play which adds to the challenge. Can not wait to return and play the back 9 and also come play the course during the open season when the regular greens are in play this is gonna be a smasher to play. I would thoroughly recommend that everyone should come for a round here, you won’t be disappointed.
