Camillus Golf Club

Course was in excellent condition, as usual. Not many people out as it was a Tuesday and late morning tee time. A welcome relief to hit balls off grass instead of the sand and dirt in Florida.

Course conditions were very good. Greens are very fast., but rolled true. Only complaint is that I wish they would use a roller to flatten out a few of the tee boxes. End up with ball above/below feet on a couple. Otherwise, course conditions were great, and zero waiting on any tee box for anyone ahead of us.

One of, if not my favorite public course in Syracuse Area, rolling hills make for some pretty awesome views and wide variety of shots, generously wide fairways. Course is always dry and in impeccable condition. Pace of play is fast but that’s because I always try to be first on the course, can play 18 under 2 hours. only quirk that’s mentioned in other reviews is the tee boxes could be leveled, but I can deal with it. Great value. Highly recommend, and highly recommend a getting a golf cart as this would be a very difficult course to walk.

The course was in great shape for early April. Greens were a little slow but to be expected at that time of year. Pace of play was a little slow as we had a 3some of newbies in front of us and the twosome just in front of us

Course was in great shape. Weather was sunny 85 degrees. Was breaking in Preowned Callaway Rogue irons. Really enjoy playing this course. Will return again and again. On-site Pro Shop and restaurant are top notch. Co-Owner/GM Jivi Govender, PGA Pro Steve Aloi and Superintendent Steve Fisher GCSSA work really hard at taking care of members and guests.. Get out there and go play this course.

Early spring golf very pleasant. Conditions for this time of year were great.

Went to this course a couple years ago, and bought a round off of golf now, Took my 10 year old sister with me because she enjoys riding around in the cart. Get to the course, go to JIVI the owner to check in, and he asks who's that, my sister I said, he said well if she's going to be on riding on the course she needs to pay a cart fee as well, I was astonished, I'm paying you 30 some dollars already and you want another 15 bucks so my 10 year old sister can ride in the car and watch me play, he said its due to insurance regulations, Yeah okay, bs. needless to say I told him to keep my prepaid golf now money and I will never be back and will tell everyone I know the ridiculous way this guy is trying to run his course.

So, I had read the reviews and wasn’t sure what to expect. I got to the course and it was a picture perfect fall morning. The gentleman working at the counter actually turned out t be the owner. He checked me in and said that the others I was supposed to play with had t checked in yet, and since I was a single, that o could go if I was ready. So I headed out and teed off. From the very first shot on the first tee. Yep things struck me. This was a very lush , very “ green” looking course. The dew was still on the fairways in spots and also in the shaded areas of the greens. The second thing I realized was just how hilly it was. On that note if you play, and I highly recommend that you do, stay BELOW the holes on the greens! It is not a long course, playing just 6500 ish from the tips, but it has teeth! If you’re out of position and can’t hit to the green to keep your ball under the hole ? You’ll be punished with a very difficult 2 putt! As a single digit handicap I found the course to be very fun. It’s got everything from downhill par fives where it’s bombs away off the tee, to a 200 ish yard par 3 that plays uphill to a sloping green.
It’s a very fair golf course and offers challenges to higher level golfers but is also very “ playable” by higher handicap players.

All in all, I was truly impressed with this little gem and left wishing I lived in the area as I absolutely would be a regular !
I will say that it would be a fantastic workout and you’d best be in decent shape if you want to walk it as there are some very hilly holes and slopes.

One last note, The three gentleman I fought up to on the second green who invited me to play along with them? Were an absolute delight equal to the delightfulness of the course. They were playing a skins game amongst themselves and offered expert advice on where to hit and putt as well as where not to.

As a guy who’s played literally all over the world from pebble beach to Loch Lomand in Scotland , as well as my local “
Muni” in southeastern connecticut, it’s extremely rare to have so much fun and be welcomed so warmly by everyone especially as a first timer. I cannot say enough good things and the Camillus golf club !

Found this gem on GolfPass. One of the best $40 cousrses I’ve ever played. Course was in excellent shape. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. If you’re looking for golf in the Syracuse area, I would definitely make time to go here.

Pace of play was slow at the turn due to an event the ranger offered us some gatorades and got us on our way as soon as possible

Leveled tee areas would greatly improve the desire to continue to play here.
