Balfron Golf Club
About
Balfron Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course that was recreated from its original layout by respected Scottish golf architect Robin Hiseman. The new nine-hole golf course was opened in 1994, and it was extended to 18 holes 7 years later.
The Baltron golf course is located six miles from Loch Lomond and 20 miles north of Glasgow. There are inspiring views of the local countryside, eerily reminiscent of playing golf in the Scottish highlands.

Stunning Course
This was the first time playing Balfron & it won't be the last the course was amazing & the views were just as good it's a course I would highly recommend.
Seek it out!
Played this course a couple of times now & highly recommend it. It’s quite hilly & no buggy’s available so eat your weetabix. Some really testing holes but also a couple of driveable par 4s. Keeping out the rough is key to good scoring. Also make sure you carry a GPS, there’s no distance markers anywhere.
Pleasantly surprised
Came across this course last minute absolutely loved it will definitely be back again soon! 🏌️♂️🎯⛳️
Fun golf course
Booked this last minute as it seem to have better tee off options, I really enjoyed it. Thought test of golf,
Greens were absolutely fantastic
Midweek round
Excellent golf course in great condition, fairways were good.
Tee’s and greens were superb.
Small but functional clubhouse staff extremely friendly.
Only drawback no shower facilities that I could see.
We will definitely be back.
Great value for money
Excellent condition and great value for money. Beautiful backdrops and excellent greens. Interesting holes and thoroughly enjoyable.
A wee gem of a course near Loch Lomond
Friendly and informative welcome, good ladies’ clubs and bag for rental, course in top condition, great value. Thoroughly enjoyed my round and will definitely return.
Great course
As always never fails this course it’s 2nd to none for value for money it’s also way better than some I’ve paid good money for.greens outstanding
Greens need improvement
Great course, staff excellent. Pin positions challenging but greens weren't receptive or consistent. Some were great others diseased.
My review would've been 4.5 stars. Sadly the greens were a let down. Won't deter us from returning. A beautiful course and lovely staff.
Wee Cracker
Very well layout course in great condition , would be a great test in windy conditions.1
Stunning little gem
Once again it was a pleasure to play balfron, immaculate condition it always is.
Friendly
Had a friendly welcome from the staff. A hilly course that covers a large area, with spectacular views. Well laid out and fun to play
Immaculate Golf Course
Myself and 2 other played this course on Saturday 11th June 2022 and I have to say it’s one of the nicest, well maintained and cleanest courses we have played. The greens are immaculate and tricky which makes it more exciting. Value for money is second to none. As it’s a society course it’s not for a full time team working there, so the only let down was the clubhouse not being open or very big, but after playing the course, that didn’t matter. Will 100% be back to play. Fantastic day out.
Excellent Course
Visiting from the US and played Balfron for the first time today. Not disappointed, the course is in excellent condition, a very fair challenge and a credit to the green keepers. A very warm welcome from Dave (Club Secretary) and we were on our way. Well worth a visit and we'll be back on our next trip!!!
Class
Brilliant course. Well looked after. Great views. Friendly staff. Not much of a clubhouse but has everything you need.
Balfron Society Golf Club
The course was in excellent condition and fantastic layout easily negotiable albeit some hills to overcome one of the best courses I have played and will definitely return. Views are fantastic on a clear day.
Wee day out ⛳️
We had a great day at Balfron, we were met by a lovely woman in the clubhouse who greeted us very kindly telling us information regarding the course and it’s layout as this was our first time playing here. We also had that big bright yellow thing in the sky which doesn’t always happen in Scotland, a few clouds which helps with spotting our balls. Great course, very fair and a very pleasing layout.
If you haven’t played here then do make a point of getting there and giving it a go as we will definitely be back.
Thanks you again for a great day out.
Great course
Holes are challenging. Course is immaculately maintained. Each hole has a map and yardage markers. Scenery is epic
No idea where you get diseased greens from ? every one in exceptional condition. think you've got your courses mixed up mate.
