Prairie Landing
About
Prairie Landing Golf Club has received acclaim ever since first opening in 1995, including a four-and-a-half-star rating from Golf Digest. This West Chicago course will make you feel as though you've been transported to a seaside links course in Ireland. The prairie-style layout closely follows the tradition of classic links golf courses. Robert Trent Jones II designed the course, fully utilizing the rolling terrain. He incorporated large, undulating greens and rolling bent grass fairways. Vast swaths of native grasses stretch along the fairways and strategically placed bunkers frame the greens. There is also contoured mounding to contend with. The golf course finishes with a memorable par 5 that features fairway bunkers on the left followed by a carry over a lake to a well protected, high bowled green. Prairie Landing also boasts a practice facility that includes a driving range with target greens, four practice holes, and a nine-hole chipping and short-game area.

Always perfect
It’s Mud August, mist courses are showing their season of play, yet Prairie Landings is a step above
Doing what it takes to take care of its course
I rate this as an awesome public course and is better than a lot of private courses. The greens held perfectly to good shots, the pace was very fast
Anyone will enjoy this track immensely
Great course!
A little slow at times, but it was still a great experience.
First Time Playing
The course was in great shape. Fairways were lush and the greens were outstanding. I played at 11am on a Friday and never had to wait for the group in front of us. The course was challenging, but fair. The 12th was a par 3 that took a 200 yard shot over water—which is more difficulty that I was expecting. The back 9 has three par 3’s and three par 5’s which is a unique setup. The course is near a private airstrip but the small planes that flew by throughout the round were not a distraction—they actually strangely added to the ambiance. This was my first round here and I will definitely be coming back.
Course is in great conditions late in the season
Course is in great conditions. Fairways and greens are well maintained. It was nice that starter let us out earlier so we can finish the round.
Great Track!
Very nice course, well manicured, greens roll true and fast, some very challenging holes, clubhouse restaurant was excellent.
Great
Played in late October so conditions were cold wet and windy. The course was very green and pretty. Extremely hilly on the fairways and the greens. I felt the front 9 was a little tighter off the tee, but the back 9 opened up a bit more and I really enjoyed the layout. The greens were pretty huge, which left for some really long putts. The sand was surprisingly very soft. Too soft actually. But overall fantastic course and will definitely come back next year for a mid season round.
Great course
Was a little over watered. Green were nice recently aerated but with the super small punches so it was barely noticeable....excellent range and practice area. Overall I give it a rating of 9.....If it wasn't so wet it would be a 10.
Good experience
the shocking surprise was two practise holes. creative and generous.
Fun & Challenging
This is a really nice course and can challenge golfers of all skill levels…especially playing the tips! Pretty interesting layout with lots of movement and potential hazards if you are not careful. This is a course you will appreciate taking a cart on, which by the way are newer models equipped with gps and other features. If you can get a hotdeal for a good price, this is a great option to try out. Overall, I would rate this as one of the top public courses in chicagoland, which has an interesting style. Only downfall I see to this course is that it can get quite noisy. There are train tracks nearby, along with a private airport that is literally next door and clearly visible on some holes. During the round, I heard about 2-3 trains and around 6 planes/private jets taking off overhead. Although this was somewhat distracting for a brief moment, it is something to be aware of.
Great Golf Experience
Beautiful fairways lined by prairie, rolling contours and well placed traps makes for a challenging and fun day of golf. A great value for a wonderful course.
About once a month I drive an hour to play this course. If I lived within 20 minutes, I'd probably look into a membership.
