Beautiful
Mt Shasta reigns throughout the course. We had clear pristine skies with poofs of steam halo ing the mountain. Course was well kept. The sand traps however were dense with little give, the greens were fast, typical to end of summer dry course conditions
Great
Great day weather was beautiful , greens rolled pretty good since the plugging which was done recently . Pace of play was very good and the rest of the corse is greening up and in very good shape for time of year ..
Punched greens
We arrived to find that the greens had recently been punched . Would have been nice to know that before booking . Other than that everything was fine . Very nice course .
In the Shadow of Shasta
I love this course and the staff is always great! We got out with few folks in front of us and had a great round (score notwithstanding).
Foggy and Cold
Generally I would rate this course higher than I did.My wife and I play it whenever we travel though the area. It is best in the summer months. Today we started at 33 degrees and finished at 39 degrees. It was very foggy throughout our round. the course is definitely in winter conditions. It is often a very nice track. I would recommend it if you are in the area.
Great course!
Love this course! Great staff and a beautiful backdrop top off an amazing 18!
Great
Staff great. Course in good condition. Grill great
Shastina, always a pleasure to play
We were charged $10 extra per cart because we chose to ride separately, in order to comply with social distancing requirements. The person who checked us in was not very friendly, while insisting the $10 was fair. I questioned his logic while referring to the “includes cart” language on my confirmation. He agreed not to charge me for one cart.
Beautiful course great views of Mt.Shasta, course was in great shape the cart paths are getting a little rough but that’s no big deal
Late February at Lake be Shastina
First time playing course. The course had been experiencing dry conditions (no rain in Feb.), and it was another unusually mild day with little or no wind. The fairways were dormant but cut down and easy to play. Greens were decent considering it was the end of February. The course is somewhat challenging, yet somewhat forgiving. There was little to no water in several of the water hazards. Bunkers were strategically placed, but contained be a fine volcanic rock sand. The course had plenty of trees and scenic pines, and my magnificent views of mighty Mt. Shasta. Definitely will play the course again, likely in summer months when fairways will be green.
If slow play is what you are looking for
This used to be one of my favorite courses in the area, but not anymore. The course itself is great and the views are fantastic, but the pace of play has gone from slow to ridiculous.
The last time (and believe me it will be the last time!) we played the front nine in just over 2.5 hours which is borderline acceptable. But, it then took us 45 minutes to play numbers 10 and 11 and when we got to number 12 there were 3 groups on it. We called it a day and came home.
It's still a great course, but you better be willing to spend a seeming eternity playing it.
