King and Bear Golf Course at World Golf Village
About
The King & Bear Course at World Golf Village is named for its designers, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. It is the first and only collaboration between the two legendary golfers. Combining the contrasting styles of the two designers created a challenging course that incorporates features from both traditional Scottish-links courses and new traditions in American golf. The course is known for the numerous lakes bordered by large coquina rock that come into play throughout. The front nine is dotted with loblolly pines while decades-old oak trees provide shade for the back nine. In addition to King & Bear, World Golf Village also offers another excellent 18-hole course, Slammer & Squire.

Great Day
Our group had a great day playing golf at the King & the Bear. The staff was friendly and helpful, the course is beautiful and in great condition; the greens are fast and true.
A 1 course
I played with another couple but both played well and the pace was almost 4 hours.
The course was in excellent shape even the hazards were a pleasure to get out of.
There was plenty of water and some long challenging holes but overall the layout was fair.
I definitely recommend this course to anyone else and I will attempt to play it on my return trip.
I would play it again for sure.
I like the layout. It tests working your ball right to left and left to right.
The greens are not as nice or not nearly as fast as St. John's CC but our price reduction thru GolfNow.com made this a good deal.
I would not pay the full price unless you can get a deal on GolfNow.
Play St. Johns CC for way less than this course's full fare if you cannot get a price reduction on GolfNow.com. If you get the reduction for The King and Bear, then play this course over St.John's CC, even with a slightly higher price for The K&B!!
Green Jacket
I thought the layout was very nice, not too challenging but hardly easy. It was complete with wild life, even a gator. The guy in the pro shop said the course was about 85% and he was accurate. I appreciate honesty. The only issue I had is the greens. The greens were thin in some areas and not consistent with speed. Not many of the greens were consistent. didnt seem the grass was mature at this point on the calendar. Do I plan on playing again, if I do and I want to, I need to know that the King and Bear deliver some professional greens for professional green! and not just an apple..
Always Great Course and Challenge
One of my favorite tracks in North Florida. Tough test from any tee. Always in great shape.
A must play
A course you will be glad you played. Well worth the experience. T entire staff made me feel very welcome.
Wonderful
Very nice facility, friendly and helpful staff, and the course was in great shape (other than the traps being packed sand at the bottoms).
Great Golf Experience
The King and Bear is a great place to play. Excellent condition, challenging layout.
Exceptional conditions & great layout
I was in town for business and extended it one day to make sure and play King & Bear. The prices on GolfNow.com were $169 up until 2 days before I played. I had read that you could find a good deal if you waited until a few days before. I was able to find a "Hot Deal" on golfnow.com for $99. I am from Arizona and right now it is hard to find a goat track for less tha $50/round, so I was okay with paying $99. The course was in fantastic shape. The greens ran fast, but were fair. I am a 4 handicap and played from the Black tees (they don't leave the "stone" tee boxes out there for regular play. The blacks were still a challenge at 6,800 yards. What I liked most about the course is that every hole is different. Some bend left others right. Most require driver, but playing a 3 wood or long iron off a few make more sense. Trees, bunkers, and water all come into play throughout the course. Loved it and would recommend it to any decent golfer (less than 20 handicap).
This course was well designed
The course was ok but the greens had just been sanded and no one said anything. Was some of the worse greens I have played in a long time. Would not play this course again.
Nicest course I've ever played
This place is any golfers dream. Beautiful holes. Sand and water play heavily into most approaches, but fairly wide fairways. Pristine fairways and greens roll true. A must play for any golfer!
This course lives up to its name
Great day, great weather, greens were true, fairways in great shape, a little tighter than its sister course, loved the layout, would not hesitate to play it again. Staff, club house and overall facilities the best. Got a decent rate off list price from golf now what more could you ask for.
Very Enjoyable
Came down from Augusta. Course condition was very good. Staff was very friendly. Apples on 1 and 10 were outstanding. Joined up with two very nice gents. Will try Squire and Slammer next visit, but wouldn't hesitate
to play King and Bear again.
Poor pace of play
For a premium course in great shape, one should expect a better pace. We were told pace was averaging 4 Hrs 10 Min. We walked off the 14th green at that mark. Don't know how long the round would have been due to having to leave after 16 to catch a flight. But it would have been about 5:20.
Luxury at it's best
Beautiful course designed and operated as "something special". It lived up to it's billing!
Facility & staff were equally impressive. We thank GolfNow rewards program for making it possible for us to play such a fine course!
Also enjoyed the Golf Hall of Fame very much.
K&B has a great layout .
Hi,
I truly enjoyed this course... a real treat because I got a great hot deal from GolfNow !!!
I probably would not have played if I had to pay full price. My only regret is that I wasn't in the area long enough to play the Slammer & Squire course.
Thanks,
Leftylouis
Questionable value for it's high price
The course is very nice but not close to 3X nicer than other courses in the area- not even close.
The range was free but busy and no one was collection golf balls (supply nearly depleted). We expected a high end golf course to have GPS in the carts and they did not. There are houses on many of the fairways and more being built (but houses are well out of play) but still this is a distraction not a plus for expensive golf. I live in the area and have played most courses. The K&B course has many pretty holes but so do many other courses at 1/3 the price and many include GPS. It was in good condition, and loved they supplied apples on ice but the apples don't make-up the difference in price.
Great Capoff to my vacation
Knocked off another course off my bucket list. The proshop has lots of goodies to offer.
Great Course
Played this course with two friends who came down from Ohio. The course was in excellent shape and the staff was second to none. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to play a challenging course in pristine conditions.
beautiful course. bad service
I've played here several times and this was the worst experience yet. I am going to chalk this up as a random bad experience here. They were solid packed On a perfect Florida day. I waited one and half hours for a golf cart, 20 minutes for a bartender/server to arrive and serve, the cart girl skipped our group a couple times, and was told by a Marshall we were behind the pace and needed to hurry while we were waiting on the green to clear. Overall this trip was absolutely crazy, especially with a triple digit green fee....the course itself was perfect as always. The human interaction ruined it.
