JW Marriott entry w/Palms decorated for Christmas Photo submitted by dpeagleton on 12/22/2012
Greens
Greens were very slow and very bumpy. Couldn’t bring myself to hit the ball hard enough to get to the hole.
great course
Only course I have played at that was more impressive than JW Marriott Palm course was The Wailea Golf Club on Maui, Hawaii.
Palm course JW Marriott Palm Desert
The course was ok. Had some rough spots but what I really didn't like were the traps. No sand just dirt. We waited on every shot. Just a two some in front of us and we were a two some they could have paired us up.
Palm course.
Got the course for a decent rate on golf now. Wanted to play again or at Valley course and it was priced too high for the time of year(May 14). Greens were a rough and slow. Still like coming back.
Never Again
For the past 30 years we have been coming to the desert every four or five years. Desert Springs Palms Course was always one of our scheduled places to play. I have even scheduled tournaments there with our business group. We had a 9:40 tee time and teed off on time.We were having a wonderful day on the golf course with our friends who had never played there before. We were three and a half hours into the round finishing up the 14th hole when one of the staff came out and said we could finish on the back nine of the Valley Course. When I asked why and he said he had a shotgun tournament starting at 1;30. Why did they book a 9;40 tee time when they had a 1;30 shotgun? We could not have possibly finished by 1:30 and we did not pay all the money to play the Valley Course. And why didn’t anyone mention that when we checked in or at anytime during the round? I asked them to refund our green fees and after a while they did. This was a real sour note to the start of our vacation. We won’t be back.
GPS could provide more information, especially distances to bunkers and water hazards.
Palm Course
Great day of golf, good pace, driving and putting green
Nice course. Terrible maintenance. Horrible greens. No Marshall.
Never will play here again. Resort course pricing. Bunkers have no sand. Greene are stupid slow. Pin placement make no sense for pace of play. No Marshall. Group ahead of us was 2 holes behind.
Humps and bumps
Humps and strange lies everywhere. No doglegs. But any ball short of the greens often led to funky side hill lies on these humps and with strange grippy grass. So our chipping / putting was awful. The greens were very very slow but also hard enough that they wouldn’t hold even a lob wedge.
