Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Meadow/Lake Course
About
The 27-hole Neshanic Valley Golf Course is the flagship course of the Somerset County Park Commission system. The renowned design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry created the course. Divided into three nines known as the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow, the course provides three different 18-hole combinations. Each par-36 nine has five different sets of tees. The Meadow/Lake Course features ample amounts of fescue along both the fairways and greens. If you don't hit straight off the tees, you may find yourself in some trouble. There are cavernous bunkers framing the greens, which are also subtly sloped for even more of a challenge. The golf course begins and ends with water holes but you'll find environmentally sensitive wetland areas that come into play throughout. In addition to the 27-hole course, Neshanic Valley also has a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course.

Greens need repair
No one seems to repair divots there, no sand to repair on fairways ,greens were the worst I ever seen their, need to be rolled
Great layout, but pace of play can be a struggle
This is a great 27 hole layout with great variety and normally good conditions. The greens on this day were pretty slow, but the foot drags, divots and overall conditions of the greens were disappointing. As usual, the staff was indifferent. Not rude, not friendly. They seem almost annoyed that they are forced to ring up your transaction. The pace of play was awful on this day. Waits on every tee. Course was jampacked, so perhaps spread the tee times out by an extra minute or two. This is the jewel of the Somerset County courses, but needs to stay on top of their game, lest they become like the others.
EXCELLENT VALUE
Course was in good condition albeit slow greens which is understandable for hot weather as not to lose the greens. Staff is very friendly
Great public course
Fantastic course - greens were a little beat up, that’s why 4 stars.
Great track
I play 5 rounds a week. Mid single digit. Best public golf course in NJ. Can be a quick round but 4.5 hours on Monday which I hope isn’t a new trend
Greens were awful, fairways not much better
Felt like I was putting thru moon craters. Staff made excuse about lack of maintenance by staff due to hiring shortage. This course charges enough money to afford 3 more maintenance workers. It is a really nice course but very disappointed with reason for bad greens. Fairways were not that good either, putting container with dirt in cart would be nice.
Geens were SLOW
I ususally play this course about 3 times a year. The course is usually in great shape. The greens were a huge disappointment today, VERY SLOW by their usual standards.
Greens were extremely slow
Been playing at Neshanic for over 10 years. The course is always in great condition. But on this day, the greens were the slowest I have ever seen. Otherwise, one of the top public golf courses in NJ.
