The grass is so over grown.
Would be a great course to play Holzer challenging but the upkeep of the property is really bad grass needs cut Fairways need defined. Would like to know if this courses for sale?
Terrible
Not well maintained. Lots of blind shots. It's a goat pasture with tee boxes and fair greens. In between is rough.
This course is better off as a farm
I have been to a few "bad" courses but I would rather play them again than to go here again. There are 4 gas well's on the course with torn up areas in the middle of fairways from trucks, the course attendant wasn't there when we got there and when we made the turn we finally saw him seeming irritated that we bothered him because he was also playing golf with his friends. The diet coke that I bought expired September 16, 2013 (we just played there December 4th 2013).....know how long pop has to sit before it expires? The clubhouse was infested with stink bugs and riddled with mold. The golf cart we used had rod knock and one speed....FAST....with no restrictor. The course is not worth 8 dollars. It's not worth 4 dollars. If you want to go waste your money here and leave smelling like gasoline and be completely covered in mud, then by all means, have fun.
Needs Work Around the Course
The course itself isn't in bad shape, given the time of year, The problems lie in the cart paths, which are dirt paths mostly, and the clubhouse, which is a trailer. The entrance of the course looks like someone's trailer front yard.
The course is wooded and scenic. I like holes 10-15, they are across the street and look like they are in the middle of nowhere in the woods. Isolated.
The cart was noisy and ran rough, but it got the job done.
For now, I'll say I don't recommend it, because of all the work around the course, cart paths, clubhouse, dirt and rocks around the tee boxes, and the junked car on #18. It's a little rough, If it got cleaned up, I would recommend it.
I would play it again though for the right price. $20 max. I can overlook the issues and just play golf.
The course is good for long drivers
There are some challenging holes here. Long and short par 4's, long drives over water, and a couple of doglegs. Be prepared to for some long iron shots if you're not a big hitter off of the tee. The greens are irregularly-shaped and the pin placement made for some tricky approach shots. Overall, the course was in pretty good shape.
needs work, could be a nice course.
The course has some nice holes, great scenery but needs work. When we were ther the greens were long, geese messed on them and just needed cut cleaned and rolled. fairways and rough needed maintained. some were fine some a mess. think they need some help with keeping up with things. course has great potential. short course from the white and senior tees but not to bad from the blue and black. for price would play again.
Rough Country Golf
Cherry Wood is in a nice, natural setting and there is a definite laid back feel to the place. But don't go here expecting manicured fairways and beverage cart service. The driveway is gravel, the clubhouse is a trailer that needs work, and the only food you're likely to find are chips, candy bars, and bottled drinks.
This is a fairly rough course, and the cart paths are even rougher. Even though it was a beautiful, dry day when I played, I was worried about crashing the cart on one of the rutted and uneven paths. I lost balls on decent shots, and I know others did too because I found a couple of brand new Callaway balls sitting right in the middle of the fairway. To me, it's bad enough to have to look for your ball when you hit a bad shot, let alone losing it in the fairway.
If you are a beginner and want a place where you won't feel rushed, or if this course is convenient to you geographically, then give it a whirl. Just make sure you have extra balls, pack your own lunch, and keep an eye on the mowing man (I saw him go out of his way to deliberately pick up someone's in-play ball). I wouldn't drive more than 15 or 20 miles to play this course, and $20 is as much as I would spend, especially considering all the great deals out there at better maintained facilities.
I can see that the staff is trying, but Cherry Wood is a little rough around the edges for me.
The course was just ok.
We booked a hotdeal so we didn't pay a premium rate, but for the price we paid the course was fine. The clubhouse is located in a trailor, carts not in the best condition. Course wasn't in the best condition, some of the holes were nice but others were a bit confusing. Power lines are in play off one of the tees on the back nine and you have to cross a road to get to some of the holes on the back nine. Very minimal snacks and pro shop merchandise available. I found the greens to be in good shape.
great for the money!
great coarse 4the price. play there all the time. im a 75-85 kinda guy an i make birdies here, great confidence builder cherry wood is.
