Towa on the Rise - Great NM Golf Experience!
Towa GC continues to improve under the fine leadership of Laurie (Director), Dave (PGA Pro) and their friendly staff.
Overall course conditions are at highest levels since inception under skilled care & supervision of Jimmy R (Course Supt.) The course now boasts lush fairways, receptive & true rolling greens, challenging hazard & waste areas, & (5 tiered) tee-boxes for players of all levels . And as always, most stunning NM views, sunsets & topography.
We've played this course over the years and are pleased to report it is well "on the rise" and ranks as a truly enjoyable & challenging NM golf experience. And one that we can highly recommend to visitors traveling from afar and locals alike!
Beautiful course
We loved our round of golf at Towa, the views were beautiful and the course was in very good shape and very challenging. The pace of play was also good, no waiting!
One hot round of golf
We had a great day of golf, even though it was 100 degrees outside. Plenty of water provided. Very nice golf cart!
pinion
toughest of the three nines
much harder than valley or boulder
must hit it in the fairway
incredible views
Challenging course. Target golf...to avoid desert rough or water. Great fairways, but don't expect many flat lies. Take in the incredible views of the mountains and clouds between shots!
First time in Santa Fe
Really enjoyed it. Beautiful day and friendly staff who made sure we got out on time, and in our case , even a little bit early. Beautiful course very well kept and close to downtown Santa Fe. Very challenging with a lot of elevation changes. Would play again if ever got out this way again.

Good Layout, Poor Conditions
I was at the resort for the weekend for a bachelor party. We played 36 holes over the weekend and had a chance to play all 3 nine holes. The layout of the course is great, the resort is there for the taking but the course conditions were really poor. The greens were OK, but you can tell that they are getting ready to lose some of the fairways. The rough was matted down with grab grass all over as well. I played with a few course superintendent's from Colorado courses and they could easily see the troubles being had with the course conditions. If the staff at Towa can get the course back in shape, i would highly recommend playing here to friends.
Read the GPS hole hints
This is a reasonably challenging mountainous course. There are a lot of elevation changes. Read the hints on the GPS system for where to aim your tee shot, to set up your second shot. Some of the tee shots are "blind" - can't see the pin over the hill. While there were no water holes on the Valley and Pinon courses, some of the arroyos are pretty deep and challenging. I will play this course again, preferably on a day without 40 - 50 mph sustained winds.
Challenging and interesting
The course is well laid out but not for walking. Long walks from green to next tee box. This 9 holes has more water in play and has many holes I found really challenging and fun. It is a target golf course that makes you use all the clubs in your bag. In fact I only used my driver twice due to trying to keep ball in play. I would definitely come back and play again.
Challenging but not over the top
The course is well laid out but not for walking. Long walks from green to next tee box. Course was very wet since it had rained and they actually watered on top of that. I found the greens to be fast in the morning but once sun came out the grass began to perk up and the greens slowed down. It is a target golf course that makes you use all the clubs in your bag. In fact I only used my driver 3 times due to trying to keep ball in play. I would definitely come back and play again.
Beautiful course and lots of wildlife
Great course, very enjoyable. Will recommend to friends and will return to play again.
This course has great views
The views of the surrounding area are great. The staff is very friendly and the starter knows what he is doing. Golf course in excellent condition.
Bad staff
Course was great lot of different slopes hills would play again but staff at the club house didn't norther to tell us after we check in for 3:20 tee time the corse closed at 7:30 was kind of a rush trying to finish last 4 holes
Beautiful views
Fairways and greens were very good. Rough needed a lot of attention. It had bare spots and pot holes that needed filling. Had to jump ahead of several groups because the course was to difficult for them to keep up their pace of play.
First Time
My son and I played in late June. The weather was fabulous...mid 70s with no wind. The course was in great shape with several challenging holes but ver playable.
Best conditions I have seen here.
This is the best shape I have seen this course since they opened. Fairways and greens are all in good shape, with very few dead spots. A little pricy for the area, even when booked thru Golf Now.
Early in the season
The green had been aerated so not real exciting on the putting surface. The fairways need some work, lots of bare spots. But again, it is early in the season. Will be great to play once conditions improve.
Not getting better
Fairways still do not drain well. Center of fairways are soft and mushy from excessive watering and poor drainage. Transition areas from cart paths to rough are bare and rutted and poorly maintained.in many areas. Many bare spots in fairways. Greens are in average condition, and traps were compacted, some with standing water.
towa in late oct 2014
still too many fairways have bare or nearly bare spots although staff had sodded in several places. greens were good and the sights inside and outside of the course were great.
