Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Ireland Wales Northern Ireland (2023 #16)
Reviews
Great value and service
Amazing course just outside Dublin. First time playing, for next time would definitely recommend a buggy, quite tough course on the legs
Novel course along the sea
Challenging and terrific fun. I'll play this course everytime I get to Ireland.
Wicklow golf course
Superb setting and the course was in wonderful condition. Will certainly be returning to play it again.
Super views but course ruined and virtually unplayable in super dry conditions
I have played this course many times but with the extremely hot and arid conditions I would say this course in now currently unplayable. Several times finding greens only to find the ball rolling off into Swales and almost impossible to leave a putt dead with greens like marble. I explained to the pro that the cost of losing no less than 20 balls for the 3 of us and paying an extortionate fee to rent two sets of clubs was frankly unpalatable. Unfortunately the pro did absolutely nothing to vindicate my remarks and I feel now compelled to follow up with the secretary
FANTASTIC COURSE
Played 29th May 2022 I was a single player between a competition but no issues had to wait on a couple of occasions to tee off not a problem at all
Course in excellent condition with stunning views and great facilities! Would Highly Recommend to anyone all staff and members very friendly to me.
I would play again if back in Wicklow 100 percent recommend to anyone.
Emotional Round
9 years ago this was the first course I played in Ireland. Since then I have played on 30 or so other courses there, many with high world rankings. Due to health conditions of our wife we knew this would be the last of 6 trips we have enjoyed to Ireland and I wanted to make sure this was the last course I played. It was a fun, but somewhat emotional round, to enjoy the beauty of the setting. Golf score was secondary even though I did play very well that day. I would recommend it be on the playlist of anyone traveling in Ireland !!!!
Good course tricky holes on back 9 but overall keep you thinking enjoyed it and would play it again
Beautiful Course
I would highly recommend this course if anyone is in the Wickow area. It is extremely well kept and challenging. The staff were helpful and the pace of play was extremely good.
Diamond in the rough
Greens were very good.
View was stunning from all holes.
Louise the pro was helpful and
courteous .Great value for your
money on the course and in the clubhouse .Its true that the walk is
hilly in parts but you can see that when you pull in .Compared to the $
one can pay to play Royal Saint so n so etc this is worth the effort.
Ocean View
The golf course is in great condition with undulating fast greens. The location is beautiful, right on the cliff. If not good on foot you should better take a Cart because he is hilly. We like to come back.
Beautiful setting
Beautiful views from every hole. Very physical course with lots of blind shots. No practice range.
Amazing scenery, mountain goat golf
The setting for this course is absolutely beautiful, and if you get it on a nice day then the views all around the course are amazing. However, I did not find the course layout to be great. Holes are pretty close together, to the point you might be confused off the tee as to which fairway is yours. Every hole is either up a hill or down the next, to the point you are left desperately seeking level ground. There are a couple of points where you are teeing off over the green of another hole. I would come back to hike the ocean side cliffs more than the golf.
Wicklow Hills
This is a very pretty course with beautiful stunning views but it is very hilly which makes for a very tiring round if you are walking which we were..You need to be quite fit otherwise take a buggy. There are quite a lot of holes in the fairways where you could twist an ankle if not careful. A course planner would have been useful as there were a few hidden hazards. Not sure if these were available. The clubhouse has wonderful panoramic views and they have a good choice of food.
Hidden Gem - On Irish coast
I have played a few courses on the easy coast of Ireland. such as the European and Arklow (great tracks)
This course is unreal and you would not believe that just 2 days prior to playing it was covered in snow thanks to the Beast from the East 2.0
Not mats, fairways outstanding as were the tricky greens. Not the longest of courses but you must think your way around as trouble is not far away
The new professional is outstanding with such a friendly and approachable demeanour
Only down side was that we were off winter tees I can imagine that in the height of summer this would be a great challenge.
Great value course and I am honestly going to play it again tomorrow.
