fantastic course - definitely worth checking out!
Loved this place! I've heard about it for a few years and I've been trying to get out here. Finally had the chance. The front nine is basically all "in-land links" and then the back is more wooded.... There are a few "quirky" holes but not so much that it ruins the course. #15 is a bit odd... however it LOOKS more odd than it actually IS... and once you've played it you wish you could go back and give it another go.
I wouldn't call this course overly difficult, but it can be challenging in sneaky ways. But if you're ON... then you could go pretty low here.
The most important thing to me is whether a course is a FUN round, and this place is 100% fun. Just about every hole could be a postcard and there are a lot of little things to learn about the place.
I HIGHLY suggest this place. It's actually really underrated as a course in eastern PA. I would easily put it right up there in the top 5 public courses in the philadelphia area.
Great Experience
Simply put, should you decide to play Makefield Highland, you will be very, very glad you did. The staff from check in to when you returned the cart were all friendly. The course is challenging yet fair. It's helpful to play with someone who knows the course (which I did. Thanks guys). Go ahead, book your tee time, you'll have a great day.
Bunkers—-
Many bunkers are under repair.
That’s the only negative.
This is a difficult course.
Hadn’t played it in a few years.
After a relatively wide open the back Winds through woods and narrows.
Very difficult
Fair Value
This was the first time I played this course. I'm not, generally a links-course fan because they're often boring. There was a decent mixture of scoring holes vs those with some difficulty. Makefield Highlands was a bit different. There was great variety among the holes. The well placed traps ensured they come into play, which added a challenge from shot to shot. Finally, the course was in very fine condition and the greens were fair.
Beautiful course but people need to learn to lift there feet and repair ball marks on greens to keep the course and greens in great shape
Consistently excellent
Another Bucks County gem. MH is always a pleasure to play. The hazards are thoughtfully hidden in plain sight though this doesn’t lessen the challenge even a little bit.
A great course to walk-in or ride around. Lots of fun for big hitters but the rewards come for those who excel from 100 and in
Burnt Up
Like Most Courses in area this 1 is Scorched .. Not only that but Divots All Over … Obviously Gets A Lot of Play and it shows .. For the $$$ there is Better Value out there !!!
Overpriced, overrated, rude staff
I’ve played this course at least 20 times prior to my last round. The first time I played I paid around $90 and realized it wasn’t worth $90 so I decided I’ll play it if I find deal on golf now. After I saw them on golf now I started playing here. My third round in a row in the month of July here wasn’t very pleasant. First of the pace of play is horrible. At check in I was told I had to pay additional $22 cart fee. I tried to explain that I wasn’t aware of the cart fee so the the gentleman started explaining it to me as if I was a 5 year old, he kept talking over. Finally I had a chance to tell him that my last two rounds were booked via golf now and he’s the same person checked me in once and and another person the second time and neither one of them mentioned anything about additional cart fee. He started ranting about working with golf now and then said we’ll technically Tupi owe us money then, I almost told him you can’t charge me for your incompetency of performing your job properly but I realize he wasn’t worth anymore of my time so I offered to pay the previous cart fees. I walked out of the pro shop and lost all interest playing. I paid $60 for a 3:30pm tee time without a cart. I’d never come back to this course unless it’s free. There are better courses near by that are far better then this course, heron glen and neshanic valley are two of those, they charge $60 after 3:30pm with cart and are always in great condition.
Fun layout. Course needs better manicuring.
Granted I played right after it poured for a good hour before tee. The greens are inconsistent both in pace and surface smoothness. It’s so close. Just manicure it better. Otherwise, a really fun round.
Greens were not in good shape
The greens were a little beat up - maybe due to the recent rains.. the course a s pleasure to play!
Excellent experience
Very nice links course. Fairways in great shape as well as greens. Course could stress to golfers to replace to the debits on the greens. Overall greens were slightly tough to read especially if you are playing there for the first time. I would definitely recommend this course for play. I will definitely play another round here.
What a Surprise!
When I saw the pictures of the course, it reminded me of a course in So. Cal. a course in Lake Elsinore; "The LInks at Summerly". Courses somewhat made like the links courses in Scotland. Well it live up to all the hype; T Boxes, Fairways, layout and the greens were true to speed. Really enjoyed the course, will return soon.
Makefield with the Ladies
Was paired up with 3 lovely women that helped me navigate my first time around this beautiful tract. Tees fairways and greens were in very good shape. Bunkers had sand in them and were raked. The course had water coolers throughout. Pace of play was good for a Saturday afternoon. I will definitely be back and I would love to play with the girls again.
High marks for Makefield Highlands
Nice, tough track. Mainly links-style holes with a few parkland.
Course conditioning was good but short of excellent.
