Birdsfoot Golf Club
About
Birdsfoot Golf Club gets its name from the birdsfoot trefoil that covers the course, budding with small yellow flowers. Mature trees also blanket the course, making it an especially scenic round in the fall. The front nine has a links-style layout with more open holes while the back nine has a parkland landscape with trees framing most of the holes. What both nines have in common is the rolling terrain that provides some tricky uneven lies throughout. It is a golf course that requires a good deal of accuracy but it is not overly punishing if you are slightly errant. There are some good eagle opportunities on the course's par 4s and par 5s, though it is also home to four of the toughest par 3s in the Pittsburgh area.

Nice, scenic course
This course was very fun to play. The greens were a bit rough, but I was playing later in the afternoon following an outting. The only real area for improvement would be the bunkers. Well over half had significant standing water, and the sand was like concrete. My advice would be to avoid them (haha). Overall, it's a nice course with scenic terrain. I would most certainly play there again.
This course is one of the best public courses in pittsburgh, however because of that it always is super packed
With pace of play being extremely slow because of how crowded it usually is, people that dont know how to or refuse to repair a ball mark and the full price to play there, birdsfoot is almost not worth it. However only one of those things can be blamed on the club itself. It still is one of the best public courses is Pittsburgh. If you can get a discount to below $35 for 18 with a cart, it is well worth your money.
Superior course
This course is superior to any I have played since moving to the Pittsburg area earlier this year. Played from the correct tee for your age/handicap this course is challenging but fair.
great layout
while the undulation and speed of the greens make this course difficult for the high handicapper, the well manicured grounds and beautiful layout make this a must play.even after large amounts of rain, the course was still in great shape. the tree carvings throughout the facility add an interesting touch.
great course, bad bunkers
Pros: wide fairways, challenging greens, great views.
Cons: Pace of play dictated by cart path only on all holes. Course does not drain water well- bunkers and fairways very wet following rain the previous day.
Paid $18.00, easily worth $35.00
One of my favorite courses in SW PA!!!
Great staff... great course... quality of HD buns could be improved... Bet the hole in 17th is Great!!!
Sand traps are cement
I have played this course in the past and really liked it. it was always in good shape and was nice. I like the layout of the course and feel the tee boxes for all skill levels are appropriately set. But the last time I played it, the sand traps were atrocious. I know the area has had a lot of water lately but for a course that is supposed to be very nice, the traps need work. There was standing water in a lot of the traps and most were in bad need of additional sand. The sand was like cement and seemed to have a lot of pebbles in them, not exactly something you want to see at a nice course and use your nice clubs to hit out of.
Great Time..Must golf here again
Nice long well maintained course . Seemed as if most of the pin placements were in the back on the front nine. Greens were in perfect shape.
Challenging course for a great price
Some of the best par 3 holes in W PA. Fairways were in excellent shape and green were pretty fast. Great course.
To many golfers
They had tee times so tight it took us over 5 hours to play. The greens were in bad shape too. Doubt I'll ever go back
Nice public course but painfully slow play
I'll go 4 stars, but B'Foot is always very slow. The rangers drive around aimlessly, doing little to speed up slow groups. The only downside of an otherwise nice public track
After the two inches of rain the night before
The golf course was in great shape. Yes it was cart path only, and yes there were some places on the course that were still really wet, but the greens held, had good speed, and was very nice to play. We played in a little over 4 hours, so they kept things moving. I would recommend any day.
Caught in a road block
They have ratings for ski slopes. Maybe they need to have ratings on courses that shouldn't be played by beginners on weekends. While the course is in pretty good shape, we got behind a foursome, who obviously didn't have a lot of experience playing golf. At my best estimate, the group that teed off 9 minutes before them, was a good three holes in front of them at one point. It may have extended from there, but we couldn't see that far. After a call to the clubhouse, the ranger responded. But after consulting the group in front of us, started following our foursome around the course. I guess that you're not supposed to complain at Birdsfoot. I'd much rather be reviewing the course.
Nice course lousy traps
Played BF 7/6/13 on holiday weekend. Play was slow as expected but not unbearable. Tee boxes, fairways and greens in good shape despite heavy play, sand traps lacked sand and many still had water from recent rains.
Great staff. Great practice facilities. Great overall course.
Great overall course. Really not much to say negatively about the course. Could maybe use a ranger even though, playing as a foursome, we didn't have any problems, it was fairly crowded.
wet
I have always liked this course and I still like the layout. It has great golf holes and a beautiful setting. But it is always too wet, cart paths only and washed out bunkers. They need to improve drainage in both fairways and bunkers. Also the greens were pretty beat up. They need to ask their golfers to repair ball marks and offer more respect for the course. I am sure that the "cart paths only" affects golfers attitude toward this. I will go back.
Very nice and playable links-style course. Well maintained.
A fun course to play. Nice variety of tees and hole lengths with a few 400+ yard par 4's and a varying par 5's. Not too punishing for minor misses.
A top western pa course
We had lots of rain the week and days prior to playing, so much that most of the bunkers were mini water hazards. Fairways were very wet with no roll but the greens were quick. I played the black tees which on the card should be 6500 yards played closer to 6800 yards... With NO roll. The few bunkers I could play from we're very rocky, and the range balls stunk. Oh it was cart path only which made it very slow. Other than the sand I thought the course was in nice shape.
Nice course; bad bunkers
Course was extremely well kept with the exception of the bunkers; which were pretty much unplayable. Avoid the bunkers, and you'll enjoy the course.
A lot of character and 2tiered greens. Fairways kept up nice as well
Great track in the middle of the country yet close to the city. Staff is always really friendly and play usually moves quickly. The bunkers are usually flooded though after rain and the. Need attention for the days after. And the cart path needs paved. But the club, from talking to them, are always making improvements with the money at hand and cart path is in the future. I would rather have nice greens and fairways vs a paved cart path anyways..,wouldn't you?
