Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club - Lost Gold Course
About
The Lost Gold Course at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club stays true to the club's name with a layout that snakes across the desert landscape of the Superstition Mountains. It is one of two golf courses at the club designed by Jack Nicklaus and his sons, the other being the harmoniously named Prospector Course. Both golf courses have the signature risk-and-reward design that is a Nicklaus trademark. The Lost Gold Course has strategic bunker placements and smaller greens of the two courses, giving it a higher shot value. The links-style design features generous fairways and water hazards that come into play on a few holes.

Great Golf
Great Golf in phantastic setting. This is a private CC with two courses. They open for public on an alternating basis. I played on Lost Gold course.
The Staff is extremely friendly and the course condition was one of the best I ever saw. Manicured tee boxes and fairways. Greens running 11 to 12.
Nice practice facility too.
great views, great range, great greens , great shape, tough bunkers.
A very enjoyable golf expereince. The clubhouse and staff are upscale. The facilities are comparable to the best private clubs. The views are spectacular. I saw deer and a bobcat in the last two rounds. The golf design is typical Nicklaus: open fairways, hard bunkers and greens.
I would highly recommend the course
As 2 players around 10 handicap we found this to be a very challenging track. it seems very important to pick the right set of tees. The green speed borders on treacherous for other than a very skilled player.
Both courses offer something different
The courses are in great shape with quick greens and beautiful fairways. Lost Gold is more enjoyable for the average golfer. The staff are very friendly and make you feel like a member, even if you aren't.
The course was in great shape
My husband and I golfed this course on October 27, 2012. We have golfed many courses in the Phoenix area but this is definately one of our favorites now. It was in great shape, just coming out of overseeding and felt like we were walking on carpet all the way around the course. So lush and beautiful. WE will definately be back again and again
Love this course
Everything was perfect! From the drive up, valet parking & friendly impeccable service. Excellent practice facility. The golf course was pristine even with the "cart path only" restriction because of overseeding. The free water bottles and ice on the course is a nice touch. If I could find a complaint, it was that there are no garbage cans or extra divot mix.
I would play there everyday given the chance! LOVED IT!
Great course to play but we had somebody teaching 3 others in front of us and had to wait on every tee box so never got to finish our round
Great course to play but we had somebody teaching 3 people in front of us and we had to wait on every tee box and didn't get to play all holes
One of the best courses i have ever played.
This course was enjoyed by all of us. All facets of the course are in great shape. Although there are many homes near the course, there were few areas where they were visible in key areas.
Course was good. Management of the course poor, too many tee times, poor players on back tees
Wedding was disruptive in staging area, good layout
spectacular views inside & out
One of our favorites...tee boxes for all levels of talent and distance...great course condition even while in maintenance mode...lovely facility with great amenities both on the course and inside the clubhouse.
Great course at a great rate this time of year
Course overseeding has been complete and course is in pristine shape. The greens are exceptional, rolling true with moderate pace. Definately a must play!
Well worth the drive
I really enjoyed this course. It was nearing a shutdown for overseeding, but it was still a very enjoyable afternoon. Some great views, challenging holes and tough greens. I will definitely be back to play this course, and the other course (36-hole facility) in the not too distant future.
Well constructed course
Played just before overseeding but enjoyed the course, restaurant/bar and entire facility. Would come again definetly!!
Excellent condition with pure greens, best in the valley!
Country Club experieince from top to bottom. Great food, superbly conditioned golf course, quiet beautiful setting, and great pace of play.
Great course layout
Played the Lost Gold course 3 times and enjoyed it more each time I played it. The course was in great shape, even in the summer, when most courses are suffering. The Staff was very friendly and professional.
Fun course with amazing views of the Superstion Mountains
Playing golf at this course was an amazing experience. The staff was friendly and made me feel like they were really happy to have me at their facility. I played the Lost Gold course and was blown away at how well the course was maintained. I will have to say that the setting for this course is one of my all time favorites. The close proximity of the Superstion Mountains certaily adds to the overall pleasant experience of playing this course. I give this course an A+ and I am looking forward to playing the prospector course as well. I will certainly be going back to play this course many times.
Great facility, great course
Wow! Loved this course. My new favorite in the Valley. I've since played both Lost Gold and Prospector. I thought Prospector was the more forgiving and fun of the two, but both are excellent.
Prospector is particularly kind off of the tee. Lots of room, and for the most part the trouble off the tee is fairly easy to avoid. Approaches seem to be varied and a good mix of challenging and make-able. Just seems like a very well thought out layout.
Surfaces were all in excellent condition, however, I found the greens to be a tad firm and not particularly fast nor true (on both courses). In every group I've played on these courses we all experienced putts that didn't break as we saw them or broke in ways that we didn't predict. Not horribly, but noticeably.
This facility is the best I've played for playing in the heat. Numerous ice and iced bottled water stations throughout the course, and almost every tee and green has ample tree shade. The range is the most beautiful I've seen and has NXT Tour balls. No shower for non-members.
For me, Superstition Mountain Prospector is THE place to play in the Valley.
great condition and scenic but staff and members are rude.
I played here Labor day weekend and I was stoked to go there. Upon arriving I noticed a cart boy shaking my bag examining it for if i had brought anything to the course and he asked me to open my bag. This has never happened to me anywhere before and I was very irritated and almost left due to that alone. As far as the course goes, it is simply great. Conditions were nice and scenery is very enjoyable as well. But back to my problem with this place: They only cater to members, you will get the feeling you are not welcome and I think the members want to keep it that way. I had asked about grabbing a drink with my girlfriend in the bar after the round and there was one party seated in the restaurant but the server told me I could only sit outside because the restaurant is for members after 5. I left as I was not going to sit outside in 106 degree weather. The course is great but do not expect to be treated nicely at this place. Perhaps, it was only due to my youth, as I am in mid 20's but I felt unappreciated there and slightly disrespected. Ego's aside this would be a much more enjoyable place to play. I played troon the following day and had a much better experience and their hospitality was by far superior to this place.
