Falcon Dunes Golf Course
About
The Falcon Dunes Golf Course is a military course situated just north of Luke Air Force Base and it is open to all military and government employees, active or retired. It is a links-style course that is highlighted by unique, native desert landscaping. The championship course provides a challenging game with several elevation changes throughout the course and abundance of natural vegetation surrounding the fairways. The large, subtly undulating greens and rolling fairways are outlined with mounded contours. Water hazards and sand bunkers also come into play on the course. Some of the holes at Falcon Dunes Golf Course also offer beautiful views of the White Tank Mountains in the distance.

Ask about green plugging
Saw that Falcon Dunes was open to the public and jumped on it. Great course, but we found out they had just plugged the greens less than a week before. Did not see anything about that during reservation process. Told us at golf course, but a little late at that time. Tees and fairways in good shape, but greens not good. Play in a few weeks and should be fine.
Falcon Dunes
The summer grass has come in nicely in the fairways & tees. greens not quite as good . Overall very nice..
Falcon AM
The greens were a bit fuzzy but thy was expected this time of year. I enjoyed everything about my experience here.
Pick your poison when selecting tee- boxes
The course ranges from extremely difficult to moderately easy depending on whether you pick the back, middle or front men's tee-boxes. Most of the holes feature rolling fairways flanked by Mesquite trees, while the greens are somewhat large and sloped. The greens seem to average only 8-9 stimpmeter speed so look for another excuse if you score poorly.
My only complaint was the condition of the sand traps. Many were shallow and crusty as is the case for most courses in the Phoenix area.
In summary, the golf course architect took an absolutely flat piece of farmland and created a hilly, tree-lined golf adventure you just have to love! Also,
Luke AFB throws in a free air show daily, featuring F16 and f35 Fighters performing low altitude maneuvers. Is that cool or what?
Great venue
This is a great place to play a round of golf with a backdrop that is truly unforgettable.
My only issue with the course - the greens. They were in good condition however, the people who play the course need to take a lesson in ball mark repair.
Always a good course to play in the Valley
Every year this remains one of my favorite courses to play in the Phoenix area. The course conditions are always very good. Excellent and challenging layout. My only complaint would be the condition of the sand traps the day that I played. They were wet and packed down, making typical sand shots very difficult. This was probably due to the amount of water the greens require during the summer months.
One of my favorite courses in the West Valley,
I always enjoy playing this course. Greens were a little slower than I am use to at this course, but they putted very true. Many interesting and challenging holes. Well worth the money.
Great course when open to public
I wait every year for this course to open to the public. (May-Sept) It's an affordable course, easy and still challenging. The best part is that there are no houses on this course! You'll lose a couple of balls but if you're lucky, you'll find better ones while looking for yours! Oh, and the free air show is AWESOME! (if you go on a weekday)
Many trees for shade, it was 108 degrees
Course is challenged with many trees that make your game a challenge to access the green. Greens were fast and yet received the ball well being soft. Not many players in this heat. I was very happy with the condition of the course and staff.
exselent corce loved the aircraft flyovers.
Really liked corce. Price was excellent and corce was in very good shape. Will play again.
Pleasant green change from desert.
A nice challenge that punishes errant shots but not typically too severely. A pleasant change from the desert course look.
ok course with very slow pace
had a 10:30 tee time, stood there for 15 mins while group in front of us all hit 50 yard shots down the fairway, we had to finally call the clubhouse so they sent someone out to talk to them, never seen a ranger again, a little over 5 hours to play 18 holes, course has always been know for an unfriendly staff, decent layout and in ok condition but just a bad experience and not a fun day of golf, especially this time of year when pace of play elsewhere is much better
great day flying with the Falcons
course in excellent shape; greens consistent, fairways nice, very clean
fun experience with F35's, F16's, flying over and maneuvering
Summer rates are the best!
Haven't played this course in years. Course always in great shape. Look forward to playing it couple more times before the heat comes. Recommend this course for average golfers and not for beginners. Very challenging.
Falcon Dunes lives up to its hype.
I've been hearing a lot of good things concerning Falcon Dunes. This course lives up to the hype. A challenging track with elevation changes, greens that aren't too easy to read. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. The cart girl had all the usual golfing necessities. All and all a great day on the links.
R70
I really enjoyed my round and found the course very challenging from the tips (Age 70). My only complaint was that I played behind a twosome and the older man was giving instructions. Thanks for allowing the public access to this beautiful golf course.
This course is bad
Used to be a good course. Terrible staff. Course is poor. There are much better courses in the area.
Rude staff
Staff was terrible. Course was not in good shape. There are plenty of better and friendlier places to play.
AvoI'd the frustration
Tuff but fair!
The course was in good condition overall, but the greens were recently punched and were difficult to read. The 120 slope rating from the "Eagle" tees was justified as several holes were VERY challenging!! I would go back again next May when they re-open for the general public, but NOT until, due to the condition of the greens.
Wonderfully challenging course
Love this course. It's not real difficult however you can get into trouble. Alot of elevation changes.
