course in great shape
plenty of rain before the round limited to cart path only
rain near end or round but course drains very well
A Welcomed Surprise!
Apparently current management has resulted in higher quality course conditions compared to the previous staff. In years past, several friends have advised me to not even bother playing this course, but that seems to be a problem of the past. We played during bad weather, with a couple of rain delays and still enjoyed excellent course conditions. If you don't mind looking at "cookie-cutter" houses that are visible from virtually every hole, then this is a must play for SE Michigan residents/visitors.
Excellent course
This course is definitely one of the nicer courses in the area. Gateway, is strategically ducked away in a home development community/complex, with many holes placed beside them. But don't let that fool you, this course is more wide open then it originally appears. Even though there was a golf outing going on, the starter was there to strategically allow customers to go out to minimize the chance of backups occurring out on the course. There was even one ranger who came to exchange carts with another player whose cart died. The tee boxes were in good shape. The fairways were in pristine condition and soft to walk on, while the greens were in great conditions as well. I was very impressed with this course and plan on coming back in the near future. I can't wait for my next trip to Gateway and you won't either.
Fun Course
First time playing at the Links of Gateway. Really enjoyed the course as did my wife. Good course for the ladies. Course was in good shape, tee to green. Have to comment on how good the the bunkers were. Holes were fun to play. No gimmicks. Definitely will play there again.
Great course
The course was in great condition. It was a little slow playing but worth the wait. I would recommend this course to anyone.
Great course for every Golfer
This has great anglulation on the greens. Green are very receptive and runs true. Fairways are fair and bunkers are filled with white soft sand. Overall, great layout with risk reward shots
Play your slice carefully!
Great course! Greens were pretty fast and in good condition! Play was a little slow, but the foursome in front let us play through at the turn and left a nice gap for us to make up some time. Golf Now price was very well worth this course. Seems tighter than it is being in a neighborhood, but you would have to slice it pretty bad to hit any houses. The sand was best I've seen this year and overall the whole place was really well kept. I'll play it again!
Much improved!
I had not visited this course in a few years and I was pleasantly surprised with my round. A great course to play in the fall because there are very few trees and leaves. The conditions for the course in mid-October were great. I would highly recommend this course - the best value I've played all year.
Game Changer
New owner has done a fantastic job. Much more playable. Great greens. They were trying a new system on the greens when I played. Probably Running 9-10. Lots of fun. I hope he keeps the speeds up. Thanks for a great time.
better in the future
the course was pretty average, location where homes are still being built, tall grass the scenery is not great. It seemed maybe in a few years , five six to seven years when there is more tenants better upkeep putting more attention to the course.
great shape!!!!
I played from the Black tee boxes and I should have move up one. The fairways and greens where in great shape. Greens where still fairly fast for the wet conditions. I had a great time!!!!!!
Beautiful fairways/bunkers
The course was fairly easy playing. The fairways are awesome and forgiving. White sand bunkers, except maybe one or two that were under repair; all around nice course.
Great value
Good pace, and friendly staff loved the course. Had family play from TEXAS and HE liked the course.
League play twice a week
Course has really improved with new ownership. Bunkers have been filled & course is in great shape. Greens roll true and have decent speed. Agree with others that people need to repair ball marks on greens. The front 9 is allot shorter than the back. Usually play black tees on the front & whites on the back. Back 9 plays tougher especially when the wind kicks up.
Clubhouse burgers are the best!! Clubhouse itself is bland and needs a decorators touch.
Solid Course
Challenging course, but it can get congested at times. If you can get a good deal on the price the course is well worth it.
Well maintained
Course is a little short from gold tees. In great shape. Greens roll true. Great value. Will play again.
Poor Man's Version of "The Orchards"
Played here for the 1st time and enjoyed the course. Reminds me of "The Orchards" In Macomb County with fewer trees. Greens & fairways were in nice shape.
Shape of golf course
The fairways and greens were in great shape. The rough was also very playable , so for the money it's worth it to play and I personably shot my beat round this year at this course . Links at gateway in Romulus michigan
Gateway
Nice course, very flat.
I wish the regular players would fix ball marks.
Greens were running decent. Pace of play was 4 hours for our 4 some.
Course has rebounded
Course is back the way it use to be. Overall course is in great shape but people still refuse to replace their ball marks on the greens.
