Fun, Challenging course, but..
Old time hilly layout with lots of challenges, but not intimidating. Fast greens. Biggest issue is the poor grass in the fairways. They really need to be completely redone. The grass, while sparse, seems to grab the club head and, and minimize any roll. Plan to hit 2 clubs more than normal from the fairway, (One club more on approach shots). The staff is terrific, toilets and water strategically placed throughout the course.
Great challenging course!
This is a great track and can be very challenging at times! I have played both the falcon and the eagle now and there both in great condition! One thing to know when going out to play is neither course brings you back the club house after playing nine. So if your planning to eat or fill up on drinks after nine you really can't, so bring plenty of drinks and a snack if you need it. On the falcon course starting on hole 7 check out the pond there is a nice big gator in there, which I thought was pretty cool. But if your looking for a great track that's challenging this is it!!
great
course is great shape a wonder to play.
Really enjoyed the hilly terrain
The course was in great shape and play was good paced our Foursome finished in under 3.5 hrs. We were scheduled to play the Falcon but a local scramble match was innplay. Can hardly wait to get back and play the Falcon.
Very nice course
GC staff (Lee) was a very friendly and helpful, which is always a plus! I got to hit the driving range to hit a few quick shots since it was very convenient to course and then was allowed right onto the course. The course was "fun", "challenging" and "in wonderful condition". I really felt uneasy going in here since, these three individuals that were hitting balls by on the driving range by me and I could tell were a few of the regulars of the course, started talking loudly to ensure I heard each word, did nothing but bad mouth this course and some of your staff on how bad it is, how certain maintenance staff keeps screwing it up and how it's getting a little better but, now that 'these' upcoming "snow birds' are now beginning to come, it would only get screw up more. (which I felt/knew they were trying to state directly at me since I was certainly a new face to this group and the only else around. (however, I recently moved back here and now I'm a resident). I later noticed these guys were in a gaggle, with a lot of others. (I recommend you inform this group to watch what they say around new faces (if they dislike these course's this much, they need to "move on", in order not to deter possible new perspective members from joining, because I certainly have my doubts now. However, it is a wonderful and enjoyable course. I did meet up with an elderly couple playing who were from up north they were great and we had a nice round. Thanks again.
Some tough holes
Great course for price, first timers need to drive up and look at holes, surprises. We actually played the Falcon course.
Falcon is a must
One word, brilliant, one of the best courses we've played in Florida.
Eglin Golf Course
Two good courses to choose from with rolling hills and challenging doglegs. Call ahead before booking on GolfNow because Eglin frequently hosts tourneys and GolfNow doesn't reflect those events.
The staff was still able to get me into play and honor my GN reservation.
Nicccce
I always enjoy Eglin it's a great course. I have and it is definitely worth your plenty play and time. I love a challenge and this course gives it to you. Keep it up Eglin.
Major
Nice coarse. Very affordable. I liked the layout from purple tees.
Chuck & Jerry
Not a typical florida course hilly like at home in Ky
Awesomee Layout
Didn't expect to find the course to have such a dynamic layout. Hills and hidden greens. This required course management skills. You cant just slug your way to the greens. Wonderful time. Will return soon.
Wouldn't recommend.
All holes have a tee box and a green. The rest is like playing in a semi cut cow field. Very slow play. Quit before the first 9.
Beautiful course and challenging greens
Always love the course. It's really pretty with big trees and fun layout
Pay-to-Play
I've visited Destin, FL 4 or 5 times in the past 20 years. The mid-priced courses have gone downhill. If you want to play in "normal" conditions, you have to pay $80 to $150. The Eglin AFB course has a great layout. If the conditions were passable, it would be a really fun course.
