Good value
The Hot Deal prices are about as high as I’d pay to play here because i don’t believe any course thats the average Joe can play should be above $100 green fee. But that’s just me….with that said, for the $44 i paid for this tee time, it was absolutely worth the money and time spent. I like how challenging the course is with making you keep it in the short grass if you want to be putting for par at least.
Average course but pricey
Average layout and conditions. Greens were nice but rest of course not worth the higher fees charged. Good service.
awesome conditions for this time of the Year
I play all around town. this was my 3rd round this week. The course was in much better condition than some other top courses in town ( by Humble TX)
I would highly recommend Blackhorse if you can get a deal on the tee time. I'm just not able to drop what their rack rate is. Great course and friendly workers.
Very nice course
Blackhorse is a nice golf course. Greens are well maintained and the rough allows for not-so-good golfers to have a better chance at the game.
Needs Work
Friendly and accommodating staff. Fun layout but fairways and greens were in poor condition.
Not worth the money
Bunkers had 0 maintenance, bathrooms were not open, and the final 4 holes took more than 90 minutes. Course layout is interesting and the staff was great in the pro shop, but the Marshalls obviously had 0 interest in doing their job.
Where Does the $ Go?
I continue to check in occasionally at Blackhorse hoping for improvement but it continues to get worse. If the green fees were $50/round I would have no complaints with the course but they are not. With green fees almost always over $120/round I think it is fair to expect better course conditions. The bunkers are always poorly maintained and the greens are average by Houston standards at best. It is a shame because they are good tracks with interesting hole layouts on both courses but the current management is not spending the revenue properly to keep it maintained for their golfers. The reputation this club once had as one of the best public tracks in Houston is quickly fading.
No premier course here
This course used to be phenomenal, if I hadn’t got it for a hot deal, I probably would not go back out there, fairways or lack there of mostly dirt. This course receives way too much play for its price point. I would love to see it return to its former glory but doubt that will happen. This course should cost 45 for weekends.
Nice round on a winter day
Nice round on a winter day
Played in afternoon round on January 10, a nice sunny day in Houston. It had rained a lot days before so it was cartpath only, but the fairways were fairly dry and the greens were true. Enjoyed the round , couple of pars couple of birdies, a nice start to 2023! Sand traps are too wet to play in but not the courses fault. We always recommend Blackhorse at reasonable rates to anyone.
Great Course But Tee Time Changed
Blackhorse is one of my favorite spots in town and I'll definitely be back but I ran into an issue this time that has never happened before. I booked an 11:20 prepaid tee time through GolfNow. When we checked in we were told the time was 11:00 and it was not prepaid. Apparently they move some tee times around to pair up groups of less than four and it caused some issues. We were able to straighten everything out and they gentleman in the pro shop gave us free range balls as an apology. I was still a little thrown off by the fact that our tee time had been moved and no one notified us. I gladly would've gotten to the course earlier for some extra warm up had I known. So that was a little disappointing. For what it's worth, there were a handful of other singles and twosomes on the course. Maybe this was just a one-off thing. Aside from that, the course was in good shape. Fairways and greens were outstanding. Bunkers were pretty banged up but it had rained pretty hard 36 hours prior so I kinda get that.
