A bit deceiving.... very disappointed .
So to start ... I passed by the course often and couldn't help but notice the range being lit up at night, which was cool. As far as the range, practice green, and chipping green go, I would give it 2 thumbs up, personally ..
I booked my round and thought to my self 16 bucks for 9 isn't bad at all . After I finished the first hole I got the feeling I should go get my $16 back ... The course is a bit confusing at first if you've never played it . But that wasn't even the bad part . It's hard to describe, but basically the fairways look like they been over seeded over watered and completely destroyed, there are greens placed in the most random places (in the middle of the fairway on the way to hole ) . The rough looks like it's just super long crab grass . And there's no fringes , it goes from fairway straight dropping off into greens . As for the greens themselves , they look like they are well kept, maybe a bit over watered and rolled a bit too much , but they were decent . As far as my round went, i shot 3 over on nine holes and mostly because I refused to go looking for a couple of balls that went off line (which I found on the holes coming back) . I guess for me, I was very disappointed at how bad the course was being cared for . I would definitely not be playing there again. But what do you expect for 16 bucks .
Good Learning Course
Second time playing here with 13 yr old son. It's really a good place to teach my son to play. The fact that there is only 9 hole is also a plus. Thank you for a nice time.
Great value
Nice course to practice short game. Fairways and greens in excellent condition.
Worst manager behavior
The blonde female manager at this course has a terrible attitude we must have caught her on a bad day, but her attitude was unexceptable to a paying customer she raised her voice and even used foul language towards us and her friends she was playing with were even saying foul words toward us because we were unaware that they had changed it over to night course, we were being as polite as possible to her and her friends and they still treated us like trash, I just couldn't belive it. We will never return to this course again because of how mistreated we were. The manager was terrible, I feel sorry for the employees that have to work with her.
Avoid It
Wow. With the overall decent reviews I was expecting a decent course. I have to believe that the course wrote some of the previous ones....
- The only grass that looked like it had been even remotely maintained was the greens.
- The rest of the "grass" was whatever species of weed felt like growing there.
- There is no fairway or tees. The tees were just placed someplace random that was cut into a square
- They had some tee boxes that looked nice, but they were for the "night course". I think they plan on everyone playing at night so they can't see what is around them.
- Half the course smells like sewage
- The tiny driving range causes there to be range balls all over the course from people hitting over the nets
I usually don't expect much when booking a course like this. But you don't event get the little bit that you pay for at this place (I paid $5 per person through golfnow).
I usually don't write reviews because I rarely care enough to do so. But this place was such a disaster that I felt I needed to at least warn anyone considering it.

Hard hat!!!
The layout is good, but when the course is full you will need to bring your hard hat.. Hole 4 runs in to hole 3, when playing hole 7 you need to carry a flag the hills will hide your location.
Value Course
I recently played at the Van Buren golf course after living next to it for years. For the price you pay and the conditions you get; the course is great. The greens are tricky for anyone new to the sport based on how small they are. However, they are in great shape and roll just fine. The staff was super helpful and informative at the course for someone who was new the facility. Overall I would recommend fellow Riverside folks to at least play here once.
Course is a good short game practice
Fairways were in good shape and so were the greens. Will play again.
good course to learn
this is perfect for kids and beginners which is why the pace of play is a bit slower than average. the course is in ok condition but some fairways are a bit dry. in the mornings the green fee is fair, but in the afternoon not worth the price they don't offer twilight prices and for a few bucks more you can play paradise knolls or indian hills which are in much better conditions and just down the street. overall a good course to practice iron shots and good driving range.
Great Monday $5 deal
This is a respectable executive course for beginners or those just wanting a good practice round. Don't take course for granted or you will shoot a high score.
Fun times
It's always a fun time playing here and it's a reasonable price for 9 holes.
My weekly course
Okay, this is the best 9 hole course in the surrounding area. Definitely not a pitch and put, but there are 2 holes where you have to grab a wedge a the box (2 & 9).
Greens are usually in good shape, and the grounds crew is constantly working. Fairways aren't very well defined; but, they keep up the rough as well as the rest of the course so mishits won't end up in a horrible lie.
On a good day a single can get through the course in 1 1/4 hours. I've done it on several occasions. Best times for quick games are between 9-10 and 1-4.
Average public course
The round started 3 twosomes waiting on the first tee.
After we got started it was a little slow.
The bad part came after 9 holes. I paid for 18 holes on GN Mobil app. And was told I only paid for 9 holes.,turned out the desk top GN app. Stated 9 holes and the mobile app. Were I made my reservation stated 18 holes.
Showed the course manager he agreed when I showed him the GN mobile app.on my phone. He then offered me a free bucket of balls. He told me it was an error on golf noes part.
Just was pretty lousy having to prove the errors.
Get your moneys worth
If you are going to pay 8 dollars to play a course be ready to know what your getting yourself into. This is no Eagle Glenn. It's really slow to play but it's fun for beginners. Take your kids or girl here but don't expect amazing views and nice fairways.
Great value
Van Buren is a short course! The longest hole is only 300+ yards. With only nine holes it's a 2 hour tour for a bogey golfer and just perfect for anyone with lesser skills. At ten bucks a round it's a steal.
Tom's review
The course is a nice short outing. There a plenty of challenges.
Save your money
Van Buren used to be maintained at a higher level than I found it Sunday. Many spots on the course were severely over watered and other areas dry as the desert. Most of the tee boxes were roped off for some reason. They weren't being groomed or repaired, just closed. this always has been a course for learners and kids but there is no way it take 2 1/2 hours to play a 9 hole course. Simply ridiculous. The practice area is still good and if I return, that's all I will utilize.
