Letting it go for now.
The overall course layout is great and fun to play. They are about to change the greens so they are not good right now. They still roll ok but they look terrible and pretty bumpy.
Awful
They had at least 1/3 too many people on that course. They were running people out every 7 minutes. Numerous times there were 4-5 groups waiting on tee boxes. Ridiculous. I wanted my money back. It took us over 5 hours to play.
First golf experience in Texas
Just playing golf is always a great day. Playing golf and being in Texas for the first time I was very much looking forward to enjoying the TRIBUTE at Colony. The staff was very nice and helpful. The layout also was very fair and fairways were wide enough to allow an occasional errant shot. The greens however with pawana everywhere were a nightmare.Depending on which side of the weed you hit would determine roll. The putts were truly unreadable. To conclude except for the greens and maybe a reduced fee because of it the day was great.
Great links style course
True links setup course. Course in great shape. Winds where howling and made it that much more challenging and fun. Definite must play if in Dallas.
Great course first time playing. Having a yardage book available would enhance for first timers. To have better knowledge of landing areas and green undulations but truly enjoyed myself
A Wonderful Golf Course
This was my third time playing this course over the last three years. My only "complaint" last June was the restaurant didn't serve breakfast. Must be a pretty good course if that is the only complaint. And lo and behold there were complimentary breakfast sandwiches provided to us on 3/31/17. Much appreciated! As always, the staff was wonderful. The layout of the course is one of the best I've ever played. We finished our round in just under four hours. The greens were a little out of shape. I think the groundskeeper is having trouble eradicating some invading "weeds" on the majority of the greens. Not a huge problem, but slightly concerning. I really like this course!!
Great experience
Right from the time I pulled up to the bag drop to the kid coming out to the 18th hole while we were putting to clean my clubs the experience was great. Very friendly staff. After i checked in at pro shop they had free popcorn and breakfast tacos. All the range balls you want to hit were also included. The starter gave us a history on the course and what to expect. Course was in good overall condition for this time of the year. Couple of greens were sparce but overall the greens were in food shape. The fairways were firm and fast what you would expect for a links style course. Played with some guys that had local course knowlege which helped as well. I will definately be back!
Scottish treat
What a treat to play replica holes from the iconic Scottish Links courses. It was windy the day I played so even more authentic.
The fairways were hard and fast (as Links always are) and the bunkers were well sanded although not as deep and dangerous as the originals. The only slight disappointment were the greens some of which were a little patchy but generally ran pretty true.
Overall a great days golf
Love this course, but the greens are in really bad shape right now
The Tribute is one of my favorite courses, but I played yesterday and was sad to see the shape of the greens, they were really awful. I'll wait to go back until I've heard this has been resolved, so, sadly, I wouldn't recommend playing here at this time.
I enjoyed my very first round of golf at Tribute very much and plan to play there as often as I can. This golf course has a very beautiful layout - The best I have ever seen in person. Fairways are in excellent conditions. However, greens are not in good shape. Only due to this reason, I did not give it a five star rating (which I believe this golf course can easily attain by fixing its greens).
Just OK
The course layout is fun because of the historic holes..so it's always cool to get to play as if you were overseas. I was very disappointed in the greens, however.. they were garbage.. I hate to see that because this is such a fun course to play... but you can't overlook how terrible the greens are right now. I've heard they are shutting down this summer and redoing all of them
Not Maintained
It is truly sad how bad this course has become. We played a local tournament there. It's obvious that this course is in dire straits and not well maintained.
Will not be playing this course anytime soon. Some of the issues
The buildings need a fresh coat of paint. Just plain shabby.
1)There was no practice holes to putt into (the practice green is dead and full of weeds)
2) There was no balls to warm up with on the range.
3) The greens are dead and full of weeds. This is a disgrace for the price they charge.
4) the Marshals are all over you and want you stay on the cart path even if dry. Your better off walking since the layout is not great.
5)The fairways are really well maintained like other courses
It could be a nice course but not worth what they charge unless they actually maintain the course. I would say this is the worse course in the area for being maintained and is only getting worse.
So so true and the new GM and staff seem to be looking out for how much money they can gain as opposed to insuring a great customer experience
What is with the old basketball hoop n backboard at the half way turn, ridiculous
Always fun
I always enjoying playing The Tribute. Played the day after a good rain so the course was pretty wet. Not sure what is going on with a few greens, they have some sort of disease. I'm confident a great course like this will remedy the problem. Looking forward to coming back.
Great Idea just not the course it use to be.
This course used to be my favorite course in the area. They do a great job of mimicking the Scottish holes that they mirror. But the course has really gone down hill with the care and support of the actual course. The greens are in horrible shape, I understand they are pulling out the Bent Grass Greens and putting in a Bermuda or something that is cheaper to care for in place of the Bent Grass Greens. I really hate it when a course does this it seems that they are more focused on the money and less on the golf.
Any updates on the greens status?
