El Camaleon Mayakoba Golf Club
About
El Camaleón is aptly named for its diverse layout and ever-changing landscape, which bends through tropical jungles, dense mangroves and oceanfront stretches of sand with holes bordered by massive limestone canals. The indigenous and environmentally inspired design aspects are evident from the opening fairway, by an imposing cenoté, an ancient underground cavern that was unearthed during the initial stages of course construction.
Created with the goal of producing a tournament-quality golf course while maintaining an enjoyable sense of 'playability' for players of all skill levels, this course was designed to enhance the most desirable natural features of its tropical forest and seaside settings.
The result is a golf course with a natural, stand-alone golfing experience unique to its own part of the world.

Mayakoba, a golfing must!
Superior and wonderful golfing experience! The two ocean holes (#7 and #15) were simply magnificent. I've played the course four times in the last ten years, and hope to play many more times. Other than the on course food options being very poor and prices in gift shop an insulting outrage, this course is a must for any golfer!
Great Facility, Unfriendly Pro Shop Staff
This is certainly a "must play" kind of course. The greens and fairways were amazing. It was soooo beautiful, I think it took away the sting of my score and the $150 green fee ;-). Fortunatel because of GolfNow, I received a better rate, but still had to pay $150 in transportation fees from Cancun to the course and back.
The outside staff was very nice and helpful, the guy in the PRO shop was not. He tried to encourage me not to go to the practice range so that I could hurry and finish. I uncovered his hidden agenda when I returned from my round, he had arleady closed the shop and the regsiter so I couldn't buy a souvenir shirt, etc. unless I paid with cash. I was very disappointed to be rushed when that was the main reason I picked Mexico as my destination. I woudln't know anything about the 19th hole since it was pretty much closed when I finished my round and it was only 6:30 or so!
Great time and great value
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our day! Great course, facility, staff, lunch, and under 3 1/2 hours! Saved a lot by booking on Golf Now.
Amazing golf course
What a golf course!!!
If you got a chance to play it, we paid 89$ with golf now at 11h30, a huge discount if you compare to the teeoff 10 min earlier at 229$
Kudos shark
The course was great. The first hole just sets the overall expectation for the course.
Great experience, would go back again!
Excellent golf experience overall!
Amazing course, great service, pace and superb setting! Amazing golf experience overall!
Beautiful course
The staff was nice. Some maybe a little full of the place. The course was great. Perfect conditions and beautiful scenery. Some of the best greens I have played. Any avid golfer must play this if in the area. It was expensive and not all inclusive like some of the other courses, but still a must play once. Very windy the day we played.
Toute seul
Je ai jouer toute seul , et j ai partis au trou no 10 et bye pas plus , mais le terrain étais super
Beautiful Course - Great condition - Touch of Class
Well after playing another local course and being very disappointed ( TPC Cancun ) I was extremely refreshed to experience Mayakoba, very friendly staff, great service, beautiful setting , and the practice facility, putting green, and course was in excellent condition. I highly recommend playing Mayakoba, it is most likely one of the best courses Mexico has to offer, at least to my knowledge on the Mayan coast.
I have played Moon Palace, Riviera, Playa Car, Riviera Maya Golf Course, TPC Cancun .... to my liking Mayakoba is the best of the bunch
Enjoy
A swanky experience on the Riviera Maya
I visited El Cameleon for the opening of the Jim McLean golf school in 2010. It's quite a spread in Mayakoba, thousands of seaside acres littered with mangroves, cenotes and sea views. The wind whips around on the beachfront holes pretty good in the afternoon, but to be fair it's better than some of the sweatier holes further inland that feel more like rainforest.
The course is good (I've played better Norman designs though) but the whole experience when coupled with the Fairmont Mayakoba makes for one of the best golf stay-and-play experiences in Mexico. You'll probably find more exciting courses down around the cliffs of Cabo or mountainous Puerto Vallerta as the land in this side of the country is pretty flat. But with the service and conditions all first-rate, you're still going to have a great time on the course. Keep the margaritas coming and be sure to get some ceviche and a massage after your round.
PGA Tour host delivers the swankiest golf experience of the Riviera Maya
The host of the OHL Classic at Mayakoba, the PGA TOUR’s only stop in Mexico or the Caribbean, now delivers an experience up to par with an expanded clubhouse. Improvements completed in 2014 added a new bar and patio to the upper level in the clubhouse. A new restaurant is scheduled to open this year as well. The course has always been worthy of the tournament. It traverses through three ecosystems, the jungle, the mangroves and the beach. The signature par-3s at no. 7 and no. 15 overlook the Caribbean Sea. A daunting collection of par-4s will define how the round goes.
