Part of a large tree farm whose crop is irrigated by two lakes, Twin Lakes is one of the best values in the state. An outstanding, challenging track, despite the fact that it was designed by the landowner, the course is not crowded and the golf is spectacular. You’ll notice how around half the holes play through the East Texas pines, while the other half play over and around the lakes. The course is long at 7,200 yards from the tips, and over 6,600 from the men’s tees. Even the short holes are difficult, with strategically placed bunkers and difficult pin placements.
One of these is No. 9, perhaps one of the most difficult par 3s in the state. It rests along the lake with a huge tree to the left of the green that sucks in anything on that side. The wind howls off the lake and your subconscious tells you to aim right because of the tree. Anything less than perfect will find the water on the right. Less confident golfers sometimes lay up with a wedge, hoping to get their chip close enough for a one-putt. Considering the penalties that are possible on this hole, this isn’t always a dumb move.

This course is Fantastic!!!
Played from the Gold tee's this time, it gives the course a whole new look!! It is long but challenges you to use different clubs and the Greens are Excellent!!!
Best course in east TX
Big sloping well maintained greens that will test even the shortest putts. Fairways in great shape. Sand in bunkers a little packed/hardened. It was hot and fairly busy but no cart girl today. Paired up with a threesome and had a great day of golf.
Really Nice Course
Beautiful course with scenic views. the course is in very good shape overall. Would suggest anyone play this course.
Twin Lakes
A MUST PLAY COURSE! It is worth the drive from the Dallas Fort Worth area. I can't wait to play there again. All Par 5's are blind tee shots. Green's are perfect with a lot of slope.
Excellence
Amazing course. Great staff. From the first tee to the last green the course is beautiful. Greens are quick. Have to be on with the putter.
Worth the drive from Georgia!
Visiting family nearby (so I didn't actually drive all the way from Georgia just to play here). Read about this course on Golf Advisors top 50 list. My son and I played on Thursday, then came back on Saturday with my Son-in-Law. Staff was great! We ask which tees to play for the first time(on Thursday) and we were advised to play the white tees. The yardage difference between white and blue tees is significant (1,000 yards). Whites 5700 and blues 6700. I like 6300 to 6500. I found the blues to be manageable because most of the additional yardage is on the par 5's. The greens are quick with plenty of slope but rolled extremely true. A great course. My son told me it was the best he's played.
Another great round at Twin Lakes
This a real gem hidden a few miles south of Canton, TX. The unconventional layout is due to the course winding through a tree farm. You will find elevation, sand, water, short & !long holes. Greens are in good shape & run true. Several have considerable slopes. There were some wet areas due the recent heavy rains, but nothing to complain about. Pro shop & food limited by space. New facility under construction. Consider bringing what you need: location is isolated. Get ready for a fun & challenging round of golf.
ALWAYS a Great Course!!
Twin Lakes is my second home course. Living 30 min away is nice to have such a GREAT course near home. :The greens are always terrific and the fairways lush. Even after the rain late the prior week by Monday we only had trouble in one fairway. Thanks to Randy Wade and the welcoming staff that are always helpful and friendly. Looking forward to my next round!
Wow great course
Great course and layout. Was down in the area for a wedding and found this listed in GolfNow. WOW... Great staff, could have spent a good hour just talking to them. The course was in excellent condition, and the greens rolled true. Definitely will make the effort to get back to the area and play this layout again!!!
Great Course
.Great course. Always in great shape. Soft greens, very beautiful golf course. My favorite course in east Texas
pretty place
treacherous greens - fun to play layout - usually in excellent condition but recent rains and careless golf cart drivers have rutted many areas badly - sad to see.
Great place for golf
great course and layout. Greens were in great shape and true on the roll. 18th hole is beautiful to end on.
Love this course
Twin Lakes, aka East Texas Augusta, is my favorite course in the North Texas area. Very challenging course but that's what makes it fun. Every time I have been, its been in nearly immaculate condition. Unfortunately, this time was the one exception with way poana more pronounced than I have ever seen there. Still in great shape I'd say on at least 14-15 greens, but my expectations are always high for this course and it was slightly under what I expected for Twin Lakes in the spring. Regardless, love this course and would recommend to anyone looking for a great deal at a great golf course to try out this course.
Pay attention
Course is in great shape except for the sink hole that hit 18 and sucked the cart path under and causes you to layup real short.
Love this course!!
Great course and not crowded on weekdays! GPS included and great value.
Thank you for your kind comments. We hope to host you again soon.
Twin lakes
It's a tough course. But I had a great time! I'm not a very good golfer, I hope to get better so I can play this course better.
Practice makes perfect, so let us know if we can help. Our head golf pro, Randy Wade, gives lessons and if you ask any of the people behind the counter they love to give tips on how to play the course.
Gem in the trees
This is a beautiful and fabulous course. The course was wet this trip but greens were in good shape. If you are in the area you must play this course.
Very nice course
I really enjoyed this course! Very manageable from the white tees and you can back it up to the blues for a solid challenge.
Staff, all the staff, are great! Lost my wallet on the course. The grounds crew found it and returned it to the clubhouse. I had a substantial amount of cash in my wallet and every dollar was still in it. Offered a cash reward that was promptly turned down.
GPS system is a nice touch as well. Can't go wrong on this course. Has everything for all skill sets. Definitely recommend!
Good but not great
Based on all the great reviews I guess I was a little let down. It's a good course and it's nice being out of the busy metroplex area to try some place new but it did not stack up to others such as Texas Star, Tierra Verde or Cowboys. The greens rolled true but we're very slow. The bunkers around the entire course we're not in great shape at all. It was like hitting out of mud from some of them. The fairways and greens were in great shape but when you left the fairway the course was just not as well maintained as compared to other top courses in the area. I would recommend it but without setting expectations that it's one of the best public courses in dfw.
Thank you for playing the course and sorry it was during the rainy season. We had 7" of rain in 8 hours and that took the wall down on 18 fairway. It is now rebuilt and better than ever. Come give it a try.
