Nobody around to bother your game Photo submitted by PDGKen on 02/21/2013
Good value, needs work
Hoping the growing season and warmer weather help the grass grow
Slow play
Foursome and twosome in from of our threesome were playing extremely slow. We had to wait about 10 minuets or more to let those two groups in from of us clear before we could tee off. There was quite a crowd playing rounds this particular day. I've played here before and had not experience this long a wait before teeing off. Started game at 12:10 PM and ended at 4:30 PM.
Fun course
Good course to dial in your game, fun layout and friendly staff
Jean49
Love this course. Usually play alone with husband but had two Canadian ladies join us. Very friendly.
Great place to play, pace was slow
I started playing this course on a regular basis two months ago and so far I haven’t been disappointed . I can’t wait to play this course when the rainy season is over and it dries out some. The greens are in really good shape as well as the bunkers . The only problem that we had in our round was the pace of play. Took us 4.5hrs to finish because a foursome jumped in front us on the 10th hole instead starting on the first hole. It is a bonus to get the golfnow hot deals to play this course but the regular price is a good deal as well.
West fork
Great lay out. Very good value for the dollar.extra friend staff !
This is a great course every time I play it! The staff is ALWAYS friendly and helpful.ive been playing here more often , than the courses around conroe and I don’t see that changing anytime soon!
Wet round
Unfortunatly it had rained overnight and tge course was wet. However the course is already recovering well from the winter the greens are coming back nicely and the staff are repairing the bunkers. They are also cutting back brush maning it easier to find stray balls.
Good Value
Course was to be expected after the weather we have had recently....That is why it received an average on condition as it is difficult to judge where it will be when the weather gets better....Greens were a bit rough and spotty due to the cold weather. Fairways were very wet on numerous holes on the front nine due to the rain/ice lately. Overall though, they had already raked the bunkers and done a good job making the course playable. Pace of play was good with no slow downs (we were a group of three). Driving range was closed, but the putting green was open.
This is a good tract for the money....Gives you a country feel not having homes all over it.
This course is one of my favorites, really fun to play!
They have made excellent improvements with this course, especially with the greens!
Post Harvey review
Tried this course again after Hurricane Harvey. Recovery efforts are underway from herbicide treatment to sand trap replenishment. Good efforts but still quite a ways to go on turf condition and greens.
Cold beautiful day for golf
One of the tournament leagues I play in played West Fork this week. Arrived at the course and it was only 27 degrees with frost everywhere. Knew we would be delayed but also knew the forecast for the day was good. Many of us have cart covers and propane heaters so all was good.
West Fork had some massive flooding from Hurricane Harvey and the release of water from nearby Lake Conroe. The course has done a spectacular job of bringing it back into nice condition. I believe they only have 4 holes left in their bunker rebuilding process and the ones that are done look great and play just as they should. Nice job West Fork.
The greens putted very true. They have a few greens that have some spots on them but those are along the perimeter of the green and there is plenty of good playing surface for varying pin positions.
The fairways were in pretty good shape considering it is winter time. We did play lift clean and place so it would be hard to complain but honestly most times I never moved the ball and had no issues.
This is one of my favorite golf courses in the Greater Houston Area. For this part of the world, it has some nice elevation changes. The first time you encounter housing on the course is behind the green on hole 15 and then housing on the remaining holes. But, housing does not butt right up close to the fairway so you have to stray quite a bit for it to be an issue. Most of the course is set in the woods and it is very peaceful.
The staff here is friendly and helpful.
Nice practice area. Wide range, large practice putting green.
I would definitely recommend if you are in the area, give West Fork a shot.
Great condition
The greens are in great shape and a lot of bunkers renovated. Doing a great job to bring the course back to a good standard.
