Terrible conditions...not maintained
The course has some challenging holes but for the most part it's average at best. The fairways are wide but the overall shape of the course is terrible. The tee boxes are beat up and nobody fixes a ball mark. The greens are wide and somewhat kept up but for the money I'd find another venue closer to home and not make the drive again.
The course has potential.
The fairways are really in poor shape - almost more dirt than grass. The greens are great, but the course is so far out of the way for most people in Kansas City, and it's just not in good enough shape for me to recommend anyone playing it.
Greg Norman signature >> needs help
Quit after 9 holes 3hrs and running late >> bunkers on the front had the liners sticking up in almost all of them. Dry in the area and all fairways and tees showed it. Greens especially #7 would make Pinehurst #2 look flat. They really need to be softened for public play. I had a $20 discount and a golf now special so my cost was under $15 but still not worth waiting around for the back 9. Told it has been in recievership and all buildings are temp trailers. Looks like the home devep went south. Listed as one of the best in KC >> but I travel all over the USA and would not return. Even discussed with golf now via phone on the poor conditions. U can get hit from all sides on several front holes poor layout.
Not in good condition
Course is not in good condition -- fairways are dead. Driving range was a mess.
burnt up fairways and tee boxes
I am very happy that I got a "hot deal" off of golfnow because I would have been livid had I paid full price for this round of golf. Apparently they have not been able to water the fairways and tee boxes because of a disagreement with the local water company. (sounds like they are struggling financially). Hopefully they get the course back up to the high quality I have come to expect, or else you won't see me out there for full price.
the course has great views
the bent grass in the fairway has burned up in a lot of places.
Fairways and tee boxes were in terrible condition.
Fairways and tee boxes were burnt and were tore up with divots. When we arrived there were not any carts available. I was excited to play this course but the condition was terrible. I wouldn't have played if I knew the condition.
Very Challenging Course!
Beautiful course with many challenges! Several tee boxes for all skill levels. No ball washers, no marshalls and no cart person to be found.
slow greens
No beverage person on the golf course at 90 degrees? Never played this course where the greens weren't very good. I was shocked they were so slow.
Challenging layout with some great holes. Greens are tough. Pace of play was not so good
This is a great course with many carries that make it a challenge. visually it is beautiful to see. Once you get to the greens you still have a tough time getting down with some very interesting layouts. The holes are very far apart so walking is not a first option. The carts are in very poor condition. I have been there 4 times this year and would go back in spite of some of the short comings.
Awesome Shape
Whole course was in fantastic shape. The greens were unbelievable. They rolled very nicely. Haven't played here in 2 years, but was pleasantly surprised by the shape of the course.
Great design-somewhat like Golf Club of Kansas
You get a lot of golf course here. Need all the shots in the bag.Great vistas from the top of the course. Lots of fun, I'll be back.
NIce course but needs to have the water kept up.
I enjoy the course but a course of this level should have the water jugs full at all times and have GPS on carts.
Any course that has a standard rate of $40.00 should be taking care of the players and the course. I never saw a marshal even though the pace of play was great one should still see a marshal making rounds checking on players.
I will play the course again, I do enjoy playing the course.
Great bent grass fairways and greens
This is my favorite public course in Kansas City. Great layout and lots of fun holes. Greens can be a little challenging.
Great elevation changes, some of the toughest greens around.
One of my favorite courses around the KC area! Have fun!
This course has potential
After coming home from Lake Tahoe, we played golf on much nicer courses and spent less money. I had heard so much about this course that my expectations were way too high so I was let down. I would only play this course again if playing a tournament there. Some of the holes are scenic and fun but on the whole not impressed. We also got stuck behind a foursome that could care less how much they made a twosome wait on the tee box. The only memory is not a good one.
Best Course In Jackson County Hands Down!
In Kansas City we have a GREAT selection of exceptional golf courses. I have been playing Stone Canyon since the month it opened. I am always astonished at the design, quality, and customer service that the course has to offer. Take it from a guy that consistently plays Deer Creek, Iron Horse, and Falcon Lakes, Stone Canyon is the nicest public* course in Jackson County.
Very slow play.
Course play was very slow. SC has league play and starts the players in a shotgun format "flooding" the course with up to eight additional players per hole. On the last four holes (back nine), we were "stacked up" and had to wait forever to complete each hole. It was miserable to watch the league players "hack " their way through each bunker and wooded area while we sat and waited, sat and waited and sat and waited still. Our t- time was 2 pm and we didn't finish until AFTER 7 pm. / mjp
Tough Greens
The course was in good shape. The fairways were well maintained and the rough was not tall, but it was thick. The greens had recently been sanded. They were relatively fast, but they didn't seem to read real well. The breaks that all of us saw were not always true. Overall it was a good day of golf.
Good value for the money
We liked this course. Very challenging even from the white tees. the course is very straight forward so no "trick" shots.
