Rude management
Booked a 3 person tee time for falcon coarse at 830 , got there they said they needed to swap us to the eagle coarse due to golfnow not communicating with their tee book , that was fine , when I went to the starter he told me we would tee off around 30 minutes of our original tee time , I was shocked but said ok , we chipped , putted , the practice green was in between the 2 number 1 holes of each coarse , the eagle had 20 people at least waiting , the falcon , the coarse I booked , was no where near as busy , when I questioned the starter he was very rude and told me ....."since I was a golfnow customer I should pull my cart to the side and wait till he allows me to tee off , I got a cheaper price so I was not as important ....." now we are slightly mad , so he calls the manager out , the manager basically states the same , as a golfnow customer we should just sit .. wait ..and be glad we are even there , the manager blamed golfnow and said the tee time I booked is just a ..ROUND ABOUT TIME ... of coarse but now , we'll after 9:00 we are not impressed , conversation gets heated and the manager tells the starter if another word is said to kick us off the property with n refund . This is a middle of the road coarse , I have booked a ton of rounds on golf now at the top end coarse in my area of destin florida , not once have I ever missed a tee time nor been treated like less of a customer because of golf now . I will never make the trip to this coarse again and recommend anyone on here to give yourself an hours window of tee off time because they will set you as a golfnow customer to the side and make you wait till they see fit ,your purchased tee time means nothing .............
nice course, would recommend
Staff were extremely friendly. Course is challenging, but worth it. Weather was a bit cool, but overall a very good experience. Would highly recommend.
Poor
Greens were adequate but the fairways were like a cow pasture. Fairways were like a tightly mowed rough. Bathrooms on course were but the aircraft from the AFB was neat to watch. Would not recommend playing it.
Nice Challenge, Lots of Elevation Changes
A bit of a departure from the mostly flat courses found in Destin. Similar to a typical muni, although the greens were in better shape. A lot of elevation changes make for a fun alternative to the generally flat layouts you find elsewhere along the coast. We played from the middle tees (about 6400 yds), which is a little longer than the other tracks we generally play. Unfortunately, the next set only measure 5500 yds. Some of the fairways were a little ragged, but we played in the afternoon for $30, and the course is an excellent value at that price. I'd definitely play it again.
Eagle course
Had a great time playing this course. It was a very enjoyable experience.
Eglin Eagle
We played this course today and found it really nice. The course is hilly and can be quite challenging as a lot of the shots are completely blind. Some directionally poles or guides would be REALLY nice here. Bunkers were not well kept which surprised me a LOT, due to the heavy rain the last few days they were very compacted and like wet cement. However the greens were very shortly cut and slow but rolled out nicely. I would definitely like to play this course again now that I know where I'm going!!!
Excellent course
We enjoyed playing this course. Compared to others we have played this one deserves an excellent rating! Keep up the good work!
hilly course
Very nice course layout with lots of hills and hazards. Challenging greens but only in average condition. Needs attention to grass.
tuesday play
Firstly, I did not play the Falcon course !! I played the Eagle Course ! It is in good condition and played well.
Eagle Review - Excellent
The course was in excellent shape. Hardly anyone playing in the afternoon. Started at 1245 and finished at 1615. Cart person came around several times but we did not need anything.
Beautiful day in Niceville FL
First time player and single player so interesting shot s on blinds shots but overall very nice course for the money.
Great Course
Eglin Golf Course belongs to the AFB but off-base property and open to the public. Eglin has two 18 hole courses named Eagle and Falcon. While both are challenging. The Falcon is considerably harder than the Eagle. When I last played Eagle the greens were painfully slow.
FACT: I've played here many of times and noticed the locals retires do not let singles or two-somes play through. They force you to skip a hole to stay on pace.
eagle
Course was well manicured and challenging will definitely play again!!!
Eagle Course - Eglin AFB - 1st Time
This was our first time playing this course, and we found it somewhat challenging. I am a relative beginner, who came back to golf only in the last year. My partner is considerably more experienced.
Two major issues:
1) The course needs a map and more signage - several holes/golf cart paths are very confusing. We encountered at least two other groups who got as lost as we did - all 1st time players of the course. 2) Local players (home course guys) push very, very hard on the course. We reached hole 10 in 1 hr. 20 min., and had guys driving into us all the way - finally driving through to play on - very aggravating!
The fairways on this course were a little rough, but the greens were in pretty fair shape - large and undulating, so presented a putting challenge. Many of the holes (60-70%) present with a significant uphill fairway, which is difficult for beginners. For the most part, if you can drive uphill, the fairways are wide and open. Most of the water on the course presents a problem only for the more advanced players, who must drive across some pretty significant lakes/bogs (blue & white tees). Otherwise, water doesn't come into play on this course.
Eagle Course
Nice change of pace golf course well kept by staff. The eagle course is the easier of the two courses you can play. I've also golfed the falcon course which is more challenging. Overall I like both courses but prefer the falcon.
Eagle
Great value! Challenging course that requires an accurate long game. Difficult greens to read and a little slow. I'll be going back and I highly recommend it if you are in the area.
Excellent challenge
Course is beautiful. The hills are tough to read and play but overall it's a great place. It's totally worth the drive if you're use to playing on flat courses. Greens are a little slow but in a good way. It's a great challenge for all golfers.
Golf at Eglin
Like most reviewers, I would have to say it was good course for the money spent ($13.00). I played the Eagle course, which , quite frankly, needed work. The greens were slow and really no hole stood out. Would I play it again for $13.00? Probably.
Eagle Course is awesome
It's a hilly course, with challenging holes. The greens are in almost perfect condition. The tee boxes could use some work, but the rest of the course is great. Especially compared to some of the surrounding area courses. Only paid $12 on golfnow, so it was by far the best value in the area.
Wish I lived close by!
I am so glad we selected the Elgin Golf Club's Eagle course while visiting the Sandestin area. It is the older and shorter of the two courses and was in better shape than any we have played locally. With the multitude of courses from which to choose, we relied on other players' reviews and an unbelievable hot deal!! We couldn't have asked for a better experience - better score maybe - but we can't blame the course for that! Many courses were closer but I'd go back again and again if I lived near Destin!
