Greens were good. Fairways were good..
Pace of play was good. Finished the round in 2.5 hours.
No refreshments after 9 holes!
So our 4-some has played here before but it was sweltering, so we went in for a cold beverage at the turn. We’ve never done that before and IF we come back, we won’t do it again! Turns out that, unbeknownst to us, you had to walk through 3 buildings just to get to the snack bar. So it took us a good 20 minutes to get our drinks and get back to our carts. Nobody was on #10 tee but another 4-some just had teed off so here come 4 women off 9 who immediately accused us of butting in. We explained what had happened to us. They said tough and passed us up and immediately teed off. Then another 4some behind them accused us of doing the same thing. Anyway, we headed back to the starter and asked what the courses policy was. He said that there isn’t one. Apparently these women lived there and don’t look at outsiders very kindly. So if you’re an outsider, be aware.

I'VE BEEN TO MAPLE LEAF MANY TIMES. IT'S ONE OF THE BETTER GOLF COURSES IN PORT CHARLOTTE, FL.

Not impressed
The course was ok… but had we known it had zero par 5 holes, and that every hole was surrounded by mobile homes from the community it’s set in then we would have gone elsewhere. The pictures make it look very pretty and it’s really not. Staff was friendly until the ranger came by and told us to speed up even though there was nobody behind us for 3 holes and we we had let a solo play thru and we had just had to walk across the pool complex to find the on the course bathrooms. There was nobody in the clubhouse when we made the turn so no drinks or snacks for us for the back nine. Overall not a good experience. Oh, and the greens were stupid firm. I hit high balls into greens and left no ball marks and they rolled like playing on the parking lot. Won’t be going back there.
