Compass pointe
1. Was supposed to have a 906 tee time the person running the carts made us tee off at 855 because people were stacking up already. So the 2nd person in my group didn't even play because they missed the tee off and to quote them " I'm not paying for 18holes when I'm only gonna get to play 16 "as they had to go check in then come get a cart to catch up to us.
2. The group I was with played at a fast pace yet we still had 3 groups stacked up on one hole the entire day. Either tee times were not met or sent too many people to the same group of holes.
3. Just a personal opinion I don't feel the course is worth $65 or more.
Need to play again after fairways green up
I played on a Wednesday after we had a lot of rain on Monday. The course was still fairly wet, but to their credit, I could drive on the fairways using the 90-degree rule*. It’s early in the season and the fairways haven’t had a chance to green up yet. I would have enjoyed my round more if the course was greener and the fairways were dryer. I played from the blue tees, the extra run out from dryer fairways would have been helpful. The greens are sloping and very fast, just the way I like them - no complaints from me.
The staff wasn’t overly friendly, but I found the starter to be very helpful after he figured out I was a first-timer at the course.
I need to play this course again under summer conditions.
* I’m always amazed how many people have no idea what the 90-degree rule means. Have they never taken basic geometry?
Not good
Course is still a quagmire on at least the East course, where Bermuda grass continues to be dormant during cold weather. Fairways are slow to dry and are quite mushy. Greens are lightning fast and totally unsuitable for amateurs, most approach shots simply roll off the green. A course that was amazing ten years ago, but has fallen off badly since then. It’s a shame such a beautiful property has been mismanaged like this. If they could at least crown or slope some of the troublesome fairways to get the water off quickly….just please make the course playable!!!
Great course in close proximity to BWI. The layout on South West course, along with wide tee boxes and flag positions provided a wide variety of options and challenges for every level handicap. Greens were aerated a few weeks ago, but rolled true with plenty of undulation. Paired with a couple regulars who showed me line on tough putts. As a first timer, I especially appreciated the front office staff who were very accommodating. Definitely plan to be back next time I'm in the area.
A lot of water pockets on cart path
Green is terrible
Poor management
The compass point golf course is nice to play but ever since it opened they have poor course management meaning no marshal to keep people moving along . I don’t enjoy myself when having to wait on every tee box 10/20 minutes and 5 + hours per round it’s not like that all the time but is the majority of the time
Winter Golf.
Can’t beat it. Mid January snow on the ground and the course and greens were it great shape. Shout out to the Greens crew and staff. Great job. Wish they could get the bar area together and more enjoyable. Only bad thing at this facility.
Northeast Course is great
Not sure if I’ve ever played the Southwest course, but the NE course is always challenging. I’ll admit, as a hacker, I’m averaging 2.5 putts per green, because they are really tough to read, regardless of angle, up, down, sideways.
So, if you consider yourself a good to great putter, be prepared.
