A fun morning....
I have been to town from Florida every year for the past 18 years, but it's always been in the winter. With a visit in the summer I wanted to make sure to get out to Timbergate, a place I've passed numerous times.
For starters, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I really appreciated that. Then, once on the golf course, it was a lot of fun. I loved the variety of the holes and it's a neat layout.
What I really liked in particular was that it wasn't tricked up and forced to be more difficult than it needed to be. It was all right in front of you and extremely playable. The greens were pure, which is every golfer's dream.
In all, a great experience. Can't wait to go back.
A hidden gem
The golf course was in immaculate shape greens Road true excellent shape I would highly recommend this course to anybody the staff wasFriendly very courteous enjoyed a great day at golf
Great Muni
This course is far from the regular muni. It is a really nice links style layout with big, firm greens. The greens rolled true and were slick especially below the hole. The course requires a few times around to know when to attack the pin and when to stay below the hole. The club house is nice and the staff was very personal and friendly. One of the nicer courses I've played on the south side of town. I can see where a windy day would make this course a beast.
Straight Straight Straight
Timbergate is a Fuzzy signature course, and has many similarities to Covered Bridge about an hour south off I-65. Lots of straight holes. Lots of them, maybe 2 doglegs on the whole course. it's links style so there are knobs and such that guard most fairways. Thick rough waits if you spray and there's a ;pond occasionally. The real defense as experienced today was wind, and the greens which were fast and firm and not very receptive. Several have slope running front to back. You have to know where to hit/miss on the greens or it's 3-putt city. Stay below the hole if you can, but even sand wedges weren't holding from the fairway today. It was in pretty good shape for early season.
That said it does have decent amenities, and a nice little bar. It's worth a stop if you're driving past it.
Awesome Experience!
What an awesome track!! Course is in great shape and the greens are fast and true. Friendly new golf pro in the shop. Building a new short game area and just put in new range targets. Great membership deal going on as well! Lots of great things going on at Timbergate right now. Will be back for sure!
Fuzzy Zoeller Course
Nice course, but felt there were many holes that were pretty similar in layout, not a great deal of variety. Condition was very good and friendly staff....price was about average for this type of course
Nice track
Usually play here at least once a year, sometimes more. Always in good shape. Tees & fairways were in great shape. Rough was long and going to mean bogey unless you got lucky. Greens were great and quick. Bunkers were a little forgotten. We had a 2some of hacks in front of us that ended up really slowing us down, so we played front 9 twice. A great links-style course.
Timbergate GC
I live at this course and play it once a week at least, this course is as good if not better than an other courses in the area with a much more expensive green fee. Staff is friendly and flexible striving to enhance your golfing experience. Timbergate is the best value for your dollar south of Indianapolis. Hotels are plentiful and in close proximatity to the golf course, a golf weekend would be easily atainable with other activities for other non golfing family members to do. Good quality golf.
