You get what you pay for.
I should’ve known that it was too good of a deal. Greens were freshly punched and sanded. A heads up would’ve been appreciated. Decent course otherwise with some pretty great views of the city and Pearl Harbor.
Tamatofu
Excellent and beautiful location. Greens were under repair but still enjoyable. Was concerned with some of layout that could be dangerous as we had to go through some wayward balls from opposing tees. Couple of close calls with balls landing not too far behind us. Other than that, we enjoyed the course and the golf.
Terrible aerated greens, not playable
If you are paying non-resident fees and prepaid do not play this course. We are from out of state, prebooked and prepaid full price but ended up playing aerated greens with no discount. They have a sign for $40 for non-resident to ride when they aerated the greens. Aeration should be posted clearly when booking times but suddenly the course decided to aerate the greens. You cannot putt in the greens with sand but they said clearly before the round it is playable. Ridiculous. Staff at the starter and counter can use some training about respecting paying out of state customers specially when paying full priced green fees. Good layout but bad experience with staff and greens condition. Unforgettable disappointing experience when we had build up the excitement to play this course beforehand for this trip. I apologized to my friends for the mistake of playing the course.
Fun course above Pearl Harbor
Good course with great views of Honolulu and Pearl Harbor. Nice layout. Bunkers have a red clayey material instead of sand, but you get used to it after a couple of tries and they look cool. Greens are rather coarse and slow, but a lot of fun to play.
Good choice
It was beautiful course.
I really enjoyed playing with my family and friends.
Nice pearl harbor view and beautiful mounting view.
But club house was not good. Restroom was really bad.
Nice course but onerhing
Overrall it was a good golf course for the price.
One thing I got irritated at is a slow play of a team of five persons.. Moreover, a few of them seemed high handicap golfers. I wonder how the golf club allowed five person play.
Fun course
This course was really fun. The greens weren’t perfect, but they rolled fair. I was afraid it was going to be slow, but the round was just over 4 hours with a packed tee sheet. Overall, the course layout was fun and it was good for the price point. Solid lunch options as well.
Royal Kunia Golf
We keep coming back here as this course is not boring but rather easy and sometimes challenging. A perfect start to our vacation in Hawaii. The course is also in great condition and the large trees provide shade in key areas.
Had to pay when I checked in even though I prepaid.
I booked my round and chose the prepay option to save a few dollars.
However, when I checked in, the starter told me I had to pay $2.70. He didn't know why. I wasn't going to waste my time arguing, so I paid it.
I still saved a lot since I used my monthly credit, but the surprise of having to still pay (even though it was a small amount) made it feel like something shady was going on. Like I was being nickeled & dimed.
Overall it was ok. It would've been better if there wasn't passing showers & the slow play.
Thankfully the foursomes ahead of me allowed me to play through. Good thing for the Aloha Spirit!
No sand in bunker and i waited every hole to play so slow
