Emerald Greens Golf Club - Gold Course

Course was in good shape. A few holes with tricky bunker placements

The gold course is pretty fun but too challenging. The pace of play was awesome on a Wednesday afternoon.

Always enjoying playing this course and will be back again this summer.

Emerald Greens Golf Course comprises two 18-hole tracks named Silver and Gold. This review covers only the Gold course. The first impression one gets when driving into the course property is that the terrain is as flat and uninteresting as the surrounding corn and bean fields. This turns out to be only partly true, as the driveway serves as a sort of dividing point between the flat fairways on the north and a few more gently rolling fairways on the south. The north fairways are sparsely lined with trees that are not yet very tall, as the course is only 17 years old. The rough is cut fairly low so losing a ball is not likely except in a few areas left as more “natural” prairie grass, but reaching these would require being quite a bit off the fairway. The greens are very well kept and very smooth, with no severe contours, and moderately fast. Most of the front nine is flat and boring, except for the 5th hole, a par 3 with a peninsula-type green surrounded by water on the left, and the 6th hole, a 210 yard par 3 with a pond to the left of the green ready to catch shots are pulled. The back nine provides a great deal more interest, especially the 15th, a slight dogleg left 413 yard par 4. Your drive from an elevated tee box must be long and right in order to have a good view of the elevated green. A tree guards the left side of the green, so a drive on the left side of the fairway will require a long high draw to reach the green. The 17th is a dogleg left 429 yard par 4. A bunker protects the inside corner of the dogleg and another fairway bunker on the opposite side of the fairway will catch a drive that goes straight instead of drawing into the fairway. Reaching the severely elevated green will probably require taking two more clubs than the straight line yardage. The course is not overly long, only 6,585 yards from the tips and with three additional set of tees going down to 5,004 yards. This, along with the wide open and mostly flat layout, makes the course a good choice for beginners, seniors, and walkers. No frills, but a decent course for the money.

Love the layout, the course is kept in good condition and the greens are consistent.

The course is always in great shape. A pretty straight forward course with not much trouble. The staff could be more aware of the patrons checking in.

Emerald Greens is always in good condition. It is a pleasure to play without any gimmicky holes. Moderate elevation changes through parts of the course, others pretty flat with some water hazards. It is a very good course to work on your game - holes are straight forward so you can plan your shots. four tee levels with enough separation to make the course adaptable to golfers with varying handicaps. Very walkable course.

Silver course is more challenging but somewhat busier. Good overall experience.

I'm a new golfer. Really only been golfing since last year. I've played less than 25 rounds in my life. I really enjoyed the course. The staff was friendly. The course is well maintained. I enjoyed it a lot. I will look for deals to play this course. I played the Silver one and think the Gold course is even better so I will play that one next time. I really like this course and will be back! The only negative was when the older pair behind us shot into our position. The ball landed less than 10 feet behind us and I almost complained. We let them play through but I thought that was rude...hopefully they are not the typical player at this course. It's also not the courses fault.

If you like to go to a course that is fair and your not going to lose a lot of balls if your not having a good day, this is the course for you.

Very playable, even if your driver is a little scattered.

The pace of play was really great, finished in under 4 hours as a threesome.

Spring golf is spring golf. We showed up at the course for our morning tee time and no one was in the clubhouse. We had a confirmed reservation so we went ahead and played assuming that someone had overslept and we would pay at the turn. We were met on hole 6 by Tom who after insinuating that we were trespassing, warmed up and was quite friendly. He allowed us to continue even though the course "opens at 10". I received confirmation from the course so we were confused by the initial interaction. Other than the confusion the course played OK. Its awfully early but having played elsewhere already, I would say the course is less ready than other courses. Greens have been painted green and were slow and straight. It is wide open, few hazards, perfect for spraying shots without a problem. That is why we chose the course, wide open, with little danger of blowing up.
