Great course for the money
The course was pretty good for the amount of rain it got. Pro shop has some cool stuff you can't find anywhere Some parts were muddy but nothing you can do there. The only complaint is the place of play. I don't even know how because it was a Monday middle of the day and it was not busy, but there were times when 5 groups were on one hole waiting. All in all good course and for the money I'll be back
Get A Marshall - PLEASE!!
I love this course, and will happily drive past three nearer courses to play this one, but my word do they need someone on course to sort out the pace issues.
Was there Monday Nov 28th, after a really bad pace of play experience just before Thanksgiving, checked with the person in the clubhouse who told me the group in front left half an hour before me and the group behind me weren't expected for another 30 minutes.
I spent 15 minutes on the range hitting balls to give the group in front of me a bit more time to get ahead, and for the most part enjoyed my first 8 holes. At the 9th hole I waited 10 minutes before I was able to tee off which was a minor annoyance but figured there was a good chance I'd be able to play through this group at the 10th or 11th worse... Nope.
After 12 holes I'd had just about enough, at the 13th there was a group waiting (3) a group looking for their ball (4) and another group on the green (4) so I decided to skip the hole and go right to 14... Mistake number 2.... There was a group waiting (2) a group on the tee box (3) waiting for it to clear and a group on the green (2).... So I turned around and drove to the 15th where there was a threesome teeing off. Played through at the 14th but found five groups at 16 & 17 by which time I just couldn't be bothered with waiting for so many groups to play through.
This wouldn't have been so bad, had I not experience two groups of six and a group of eight the week before slowing things down to a crawl.
The course is in great condition, and provides a great test for all skill levels, but waiting 10-15 minutes to tee off between holes as early as the 9th hole makes for such a dull afternoon (especially when you are a solo player).
I didn't bother calling the clubhouse to complain this time, last time I did the person on the phone was extremely rude.
Eagle Creek, you have to do better, other courses in the area that are inferior to you manage to keep the pace of play up on much busier days. Having big issues like this in November is crazy...
Hi. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game. We are glad to see you rated the course conditions and value to be great during your game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing The Golf Club at Eagle Creek. We hope to see you again soon.
I gave it a 5 star in most cases but pace of play. Sometimes, depending on golfer ability starting every 10 minutes is not realistic, it causes backups on the tee boxes. Other than that, great course, grassy fairways, greens in great shape. Grounds crew seems to be constantly working the course. Price is good. Food is good at the grill. Almost hate to give it this rating because it will draw too many golfers.
Windy as all heck, but they can't control the weather lol. Little issue with slower groups not thinking to let us play through. Besides that all good here.
My Out of Town Quests Love this Course
We get quite a few quests as we are about 45 minutes from OBX. They are always requesting We play Eagle Creek. Greens are in outstanding shape....pretty flat course....wide fairways...fun course to play with a great bar and grill as the 19th hole.
Fun Course
You can’t beat the price. Not the most challenging course but great pace to practice.
Go for it
Pretty good value for the $. Excellent staff and on site restaurant is great. Course is a little plain and mostly flat, with the only challenge being your consistency with the game. Out of the way place but worth it to play a different course and have a really nice lunch. Prices for gollf and rest. = excellent.
Hi! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at The Golf Club at Eagle Creek!
Simply Immacculate
Can't fault the course, the staff or the facilities on my most recent visit. As always the fairways and greens were in great condition and even the tee boxes only had minor issues.
If I could have played as well as the course looked I'd have broken par for sure. The only thing that baffles me about this course is the lack of sand traps.
Great vacation Golf
The course is definitely worth the drive if you are vacationing in the OBX, we took the chance and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the course is for the value. The staff was very friendly and we played in under 4 hours with 2 beginner’s in our group.
Outrstanding Round of Golf
Father's Day - Solo round and I couldn't have been happier.
This course has enough water to keep you honest and enough challenge to keep you interested. The only gripe I have is a lack of bunkers. Front 9 played nicely with groupings being polite enough to allow me to play through as I was a solo. Back 9 was a clusterflump as there was a group of 12 father sons there together who booked tee times together making it impossible to play through (and boy were they slow). Still the slow pace of play didn't detract from the course which was impeccable.
It may be 40 minutes from home passing multiple courses, but I will definitely be back to this one.
Eagle Creek Great Value
I played a 3:50 pm tee time on Friday in extreme heat. I have played courses this year in Norfolk, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake and Eagle Creek is by far the best conditions. Every section of the course was in excellent condition. Tee boxes, fairways, rough areas, and especially the greens.
Very well kept course in these dry conditions. I really enjoyed the course. Even the carts were in great condition. Very friendly staff.
I also liked the 19th hole inside for refreshments.
A great value overall. I will be back soon and I'm booking a foursome for family in July
Nice
Was very happy with the course. Would put this in rotation for my golf group that plays every weekend.
