Needs Major Work
Local course that usually has the cheaper greens fees in the area. Course is in need of some major work. Many of the greens have large bare spots. Frequently find yourself playing off of dirt in many places in the fairway or just off the fairway. My most recent visit also had an extra wrinkle with many of the pin placements in very unnecessary locations. I don’t expect much from this course normally, so this review being a negative one, is due to the course falling into a place of possibly no return.
I was Surprised!!!
The greens were about as fast as could be expected for this time of the year. Most were very firm
Course in terrible shape
First time playing this course. The GolfNow app let me set up a 6:45AM tee time but when checking in was told that my tee time was pushed back to 7:30AM because of a league. How is it possible that it allowed us to set up a tee time if it was booked?
On top of this the course was in terrible shape. The tee boxes did not seem like tee boxes. There was no difference between fairway and the rough.
Will not play this course again.
Great course for the price
I only had time to play the front 9 but I enjoyed it. Nice layout, well maintained older course. Greens were in good shape but hard to get a read on the speed. Some greens felt soft and soggy and others hard as a rock. Overall a nice place for the money and well worth it.
Potential
I'm 3 years in. 10-15 handicap. This course is great for first time golfer who needs a forgiving course. Greens are pretty bad, but they do update their hole locations accordingly. With the price, you can't really complain. You may get stuck behind some hacks who are unaware of golf etiquette.
Don’t play here
Wouldn’t play here again if it was free. Course conditions were awful, cracked greens, you couldn’t tell where the fairway began and the rough started was like playing in someone’s backyard . Was utter chaos, took 5 hours to play with a 2 some due to groups of 5 and people walking and hitting off our fairway and off our forward tees without waiting for us to tee off first.
Colored Balls
Chapel Hill is not a pristine course in any way but I found it a fun course to play. The rolling hills throughout the course gives it some character . Use colored balls as it will be easier to find your ball after hitting it over the hills. If I lived closer I would play here more often. I will return just not sure when
No way
Been golfing for 25+ years and this course is by far the worst one. Brown patches and bald spots on many greens, the fairways are like the first cut of rough. Few signs in tee boxes to indicate the hole #. Hole 17 is 703yd par 5 (Not a typo). Pros don't even play that yardage. Will not return.
Staff Who is receptionist at front is very bad services
Always good
The course is very playable and considering it is December the course played quite well
No in good shape
Worst condition of any course I played in 2020! The course needs lots of love!
There were many carts available but carts were not given to us
Our tee off time was 11:45 Am today. I saw many empty golf carts as of 11:15AM
But ladies at the proshop indicated to us the keys for the cats will not given to us 20 more minutes
which would be 11:35.AM.
Outside, I asked a guy who was already on the cart what time their tee off time and
his answer was 11:37. He got the keys long time ago.
I went back to the proshop and complained why treated us so differently from other people.
I ended up getting the keys around 11:30 but it was very unpleasant experience.
I have been playing golf every weekend for the past 20-30 years and I have never experienced something like today.
