Average course, very slow pace
Course was in good shape, the greens were surprisingly slow for a CC. The staff was great!
The main problem was being behind 2 walking 5-somes that had 0 desire to let me play through.
Finally by the 13th hole I skipped to 15 and didn’t see a soul, it’s appalling that a course would allow back to back walking 5-somes
Old School - nice staff
Classic 1920’s layout with narrow tree lines fairways and postage stamp greens. The greens were FAST when we played in early August. Course was in good shape overall and pace of play was good on a Friday morning. My only knock was there were several holes where you really don’t know where to go off the tee and my preference is to be able to see the hole in front of you.

Happy This Course Is Public/Private
Course is in wonderful shape. The greens are fast, consistent and hold shots as well. Rough is in good shape and fairways are fast and low. The driving range and practice facility is well maintained as well. The only draw back is length (short). The layout is mainly straight. But there are some holes that will surprise you with the use of fully mature trees. This is an old American style country club worthy of a play.
An added bonus is the best patio in McHenry and a top notch bar indoors.
