Beautiful scenery accompanies a round at Puerto Los Cabos. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 02/11/2014
I liked the views and layout.
Excellent value on Golfnow. Played onTuesday at 11:50. Course in superb shape. Played Niclaus 1 nine then Norman nine. Wow. Views are fantastic. Greens and fairways in great shape. Comfort stations are a plus. Food and drinks included.. Rental clubs are ok, could be updated. Overall, you can't beat the atmosphere and joy of a wonderful course.
Enjoyed the round
I have played this course a few times. Always have had a good time. Friendly staff. Course was in good shape. Only issue was pace of play. Otherwise very nice.
Best course ever
I have played many courses. Nothing comes close to the spectacular views and condition of this course.
I’m a very experienced golfer. This was one of my favorite rounds ever
This is a combination of a desert course, with elevation changes like a mountain course, while being on the ocean with prevailing winds and spectacular views. You pass complimentary “comfort stations” 4 times during the round. I had the best tacos of my life twice. Shots of delicious tequila. As many beers, mixed drinks, or water or as you want to take with you. The conditions were excellent. The grass was perfect. The layout was great. Greens perfect. I paid $50 as a hot deal but I would have still been pleased if I paid $400. It was great and I will 100% play here every time I come back
Great staff , great conditions
As always, the staff never fail to perform, nick 1 and nick 2 in excellent condition. Great views of the sea of Cortez
Conditions not great
Played Norman which was in poor shape and over watered. Greens are in good shape some fairways rough and or burned out. Bigger issue is course was very wet which is annoying as there’s been zero rain and ideal temps. Food stations still good and service great on Norman particularly, Edward runs that stand I think he’s very good
Great day on the course
Played the course many times. One on me and my wife’s favorite in Cabo
Scenic challenge; great food
Beautiful scenic course, very hilly with many tight fairways, miss the fairway and you lose your ball; I rated pace of play at a 3 because, normally I play pretty quick even walking, my preference, but I felt rushed here. Complimentary GREAT food is provided at 2 stations on the course,. However, you have to eat on the go so it affected my play and I felt rushed to make sure I stayed ahead of any group behind. The quality of the course justified the price. The staff should have reviewed or asked if help was needed on operation of their Gps units on the cart. It took a few holes to learn it's capabilities.
Best in Cabo
We played this as the last of 4 games while in Cabo; saying we kept the best for last would be an understatement. The layout, the conditions, the views, this course has everything.
Yes, it's expensive, like most Cabo courses and possibly a bit more, but it's worth it for this type of experience; nothing is missing, you get electric carts with GPS, comfort stations every 3-4 holes with everything included. The shrimp tacos were excellent, and they even had Bloody Caesars.
We were paired with a slower duo, and were asked once (nicely) to speed up our pace, but eventually caught up to the group in front. Honestly, with the comfort stations and sometimes longer rides between holes, I feel 4:30-4:45 is an appropriate pace so you get time to enjoy the full experience; no point trying to rush it.
I'm happy to say this goes into my top-5 courses of all time, and if I'm ever back in Cabo, would love to play it again and try out the Nicklaus II, too. Go and play it, you won't regret it!
Another great Cabo course!
Not cheap but worth the money when you take into consideration all the free margaritas and tacos throughout the course. Great track with spectacular elevation change and views of the sea of cortez. Good condition and super fun. Stage was super friendly as well. Played it in January 2018. Hope to get back! After Quivira, it is my favorite Cabo course I have played.
New nine adds more views to Puerto Los Cabos
While the new nine at Puerto Los Cabos would rate high in a beauty pageant, I still favor the original routing of the Norman-Nicklaus nines I've played multiple times over the years.
The Norman nine is the best loop on property with 400 feet of elevation change and delivers the most picturesque moment at the par-3 sixth hole overlooking the Sea of Cortez. The Nicklaus I nine visits the coastline for a brief run near the Secrets hotel, so it's got some nice sea views, too.
The new Nicklaus II nine debuted in April of 2018, ascending to higher ground for more panoramic vistas. But to get there takes some real effort. I'm not a fan of the uphill par 4s at nos. 6 and 7 because they're such arduous climbs with too many obstacles in the way (an overabundance of bunkers on no. 6 and a desert arroyo to carry on the approach to the seventh green).
On the other hand, I was incredibly impressed with the whole "experience" since my last round in 2012. The small clubhouse that I had never seen features a nice outdoor bar and patio. The addition of two "comfort stations" provides golfers all the food and drink they'll ever need. You pass by them four times during the round, meaning whenever you crave another beer or freshly cooked fish taco, it's yours free of charge.
Without a doubt 100% deserving of 5 stars. The Norman front 9 was incredibly fun. The par 4 fifth hole, par 3 sixth hole and subsequent hole seven are possibly the three coolest string of holes I've ever played.
Additionally, the food and drink at the rest stations were fantastic!
My only complaint is that the Nicklaus II course didn't seem to have a signature hole, or really come close to matching the excitement of the Norman front 9.
Would still recommend to any serious golfer in Los Cabos as an absolute must.
