Beautiful course
Great links style course through the foothills of Kentucky. Well maintained and challenging. A definite must -visit 1/2 south or Louisville. I think I’ll add this course to the bourbon trail visit later this year.
Hi, Russell. Thank you for your 5-star rating! Please join us for another round soon.
Horrible Greens
6 guys on a golf trip for 4 days. Played Legendary Run and StoneLick in Cincinnati and Covered Bridge close to Louiseville. These were absolutely the worst greens we played all weekend. It is really hard to review a course when the greens are this bad. We had some of the best greens we have ever played on at the other three courses and these were honestly some of the worst. They were borderline not puttable in spots. Layout is nice but you can't enjoy the round if you are playing well and trying to put up a number. We payed about the same here as everywhere else and the value was awful. We should have been informed by someone that the greens were in this kind of shape, the price should reflect that as well based on the area value. We would have chose somewhere else, it was a waste of $50 a person for our group for sure. It sounds like reading the reviews that the staff knows about the problem, I am not sure how you charge so much and how you don't let the public know when they book. Whatever, too many good courses to play this one again, stay away unless the greens improve dramatically or you like paying full pop and conceeding two putts all day.
Greens are rough.
Time to hire a new greens keeper. Greens were some of the worst I played in years but still had fun.
Incredible opportunity
Nestled near the Salt river in Bullit County, this course is a true gem. On weekends, cart attendants greet you at your car before you head into the pro shop. There’s a well-marked driving range and ample putting green for practice/warm-up. The course is laid so that it takes advantage of the natural terrain features; features which include streams, ponds, granite outcroppings and ample hills. It’s not a walking course unfortunately but the sacrifice is worth it when you see the way the course highlights the land.
There are ample tee boxes to accommodate all and generous, well-manicured zoysia fairways. Care is to be taken however, as hitting the wrong section of fairway can leave challenging shots into varied and cleverly designed greens.
Just a delight, a world class course.
Long Fury Day
My regular playing partner and I arrived looking forward to playing this track based off the reviews and things we have heard through others. We tees off Saturday morning at 11:00.
The staff was friendly upon arrival and the amenities were adequate. The putting green appeared to have not been mowed, no big deal. We arrived the first green and the turf apperead extremely unhealthy. There were many bare spots and the presence of fungus was overwhelming.
My thoughts were maybe it was due to the recent rain and overcast days. Upon playing the second and third hole the green complexes conditions seemend to deteriorate. The greens were shaggy and had no turf in areas. The superintendent is definitely struggling with some poor health and fungus of on the putting surfaces. I am aware that weather conditions have some impact of turf conditions, but this is well beyond that. Being a class A member of the PGA & GCSA I have seen many examples of this through my career.
That being said the layout of the holes and architecture are extremely good. Good shots are rewarded, bad shots are punished and this is a very playable course for the average golfer.
The pace of play was agoniging. We played the out nine in 2:15, and the inward nine was a painfully slow 3:45. We never once saw a member of the golf staff out on the golf course. The course was playing tough with blustery winds, but this is no excuse to have 6 groups (2-foursomes, 3-threesomes, & 1-twosome) on two holes.
I might think about revisiting this course in the future, but it will be with an early tee time. I will definitely investigate the turf conditions prior to booking. Overall I give this a rating of (2) based on value compared to other courses in the same price range.
Rough in areas but wonderful layout and great track!
Course has received a lot of rain recently so we were on the paths. Some of the greens were in bad shape. Tee boxes and fairways were solid. Hard to complain about this course.
Hi Justin. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Heritage Hill.
Good round
I’ve played this course many times. The layout is fun and challenging. The overall condition of the course was good considering how late in the season it is. However, the bunkers were terrible. They are not maintained and are more rocky dirt than sand. They are non-playable. Additionally, the greens are pretty chewed up and shaggy. This course’s greens are usually fast and impeccable, but were disappointing today. It will not stop me from coming back. I highly recommend this course.
Fix your ball marks
Great golf course very scenic. I’m not sure if people are to lazy to bend over and fix ball marks or if they think they never leave one. Only problem with this course is people need to help take care of the greens if everyone fixed their ball mark and one other there would never be any unfixed. Overall a great track to play if your in the Louisville area top notch fairways and tee boxes tour quality layout.
Amazing course...horrifically slow play
I was traveling through KY and stopped by this course based on the reviews. The course was in great shape and the layout was magnificent. Every hole was really well designed. I tee'd off at 3:30 on a Sunday and was paired with 3 other guys. We waited on every shot and I had to leave the course after 15 holes. At that point we had already played 4.5 hours. I am not sure if the other guys were even able to finish. If they just had a marshal drive around and keep everyone on pace, it would have been a 5+ star review for me. As I drove to the clubhouse, I found the culprits. A foursome of 4 bad golfers who had a 1.5 hole opening in front of them. Just sad.
Good Shape for Late Summer
Terrific course layout...fairways and tee boxes are in good shape. Greens were a bit beat up - not the course's issue...negligence by players. Make a pitch mark, fix two more...
Will be back!
Such a pleasure
Great, challenging lay out – always a beautiful day on this golf course!
Generally a great Course to play, but
This has always been a great Course to play when we come into town. Today’s round was okay, with the greens bearing many ball marks where people had not repaired and the back no be was all bottlenecked with slow play and it was very warm out! Made for sort of a miserable round. I did see a ranger once, but not sure what he was doing, not addressing the slow play bottle neck. Part of the problem was at least the guys infront of us were waiting way too long to hit before the group in front of them, they waited like they were going to be able to hit up to them and then hey were far from it. Love the course layout!
Very Pleasant Sunday
This is one of the best, maybe the best semi private course in the Louisville area. I'd normally give this course a 5, but the greens are a bit beaten up, and greenside bunkers needed serious raking. Easily corrected. Fairways are in excellent shape. the staff is very customer oriented. This day we were behind a mini scramble and it was a 445 hr round. Yes, I'd definitely make this part of my course rotation !
Very nice course
Played this course for the first time and was very impressed! In excellent shape even with the excessive rain and heat of this summer! This course is a drivers paradise! Never have played another course with fairways as wide. Would definitely recommend this course to anyone!!
