Bowes Creek Country Club
About
Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

Windy day in Elgin
Course was in good condition. Due to lack of rangers circling the course we had to wait on every shot for the last 8 holes.
Very fun long course
Played the furthest back tees and it was a lot of fun. Long holes where I didn't even come close to having a chance at driving any of the greens, I really respect courses that are built that way. The only downside to the course I would say were the bunkers, they didn't seem properly cared for, with long shaggy grass around the rough edges of the bunkers. The sand itself in the bunkers was great, no pebbles or grass growing. It was just the edges that were rough. I don't know if that was the look they were going for but personally didn't think it was the best for being a Midwest course.
Great Value
The course was in great shape. You can tell that the greens were aerated 2-3 weeks ago, but it didn't matter. The greens were rolling true. Teeboxes and fairways were in great shape. It rained for a few hours the night before so was worried about water log. However there were not standing water or squishy fairways. Course must drain great. Staff was great from the bag drop to the end of the round. Would definitely recommend playing this course. You will not be disappointed!
Should have beed closed
We went and were let on the course however the fairways were waterlogged so badly that we played about 4 or 5 shots each then gave up. The temperature was 40 f and it was raining and all tees and fairways were splashing as I walked across. This does nto refelct badly on the course and staff. My primary feedback is that it shoudl have been closed until it drained as it was unplayable unless you were a fish.

This layout is awesome. We play here a few times a year. The only complaint is we were a foursome and they had 3 twosomes and a single behind us. Why the started didn't get these groups paired up is silly. We played our round under 4 hours.

Great course
Would like to see a cart person or at least some water on course
Always Great Round
I am a fan of the Bowes Creek golf architect. The ccourse layout is challenging for every level of player and on that day, the weather was warm and sunny, and the course was in great condition coming from winter. I woudl highly recommend playing Bowes Creek to any bonafide golfer.
One of Illinois's best courses!
Great course, for this time of year in excellent condition, would play there every week, if I could.
Great golf course
Carefully maintained with some very unique holes, challenging but fair golf course.
Fun course, mostly target golf
Excellent course! Definitely the best course around for $41 on a Friday morning. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Fairways were in great shape just after a big rain and carts were 90 degrees.
Great track
First round in 2017 was a lot of fun played in 3 hours and really enjoyed the course!
LINKS/PRAIRIE STYLE
great PLACE TO GOLF IN FALL- HARDLY NO LEAVES AND TREES. THE COURSE WAS EXCELLENT AND FAIRWAYS VERY GENEROUS.
Challenging course
Nice course with good elevations. Friendly staff. Will come back absolutely.
Good Challenging Test At Bowes Creek
Played late in the season. Weather felt like fall in Ireland. Front Nine had many interesting holes with a variety of challenges including water, elevations, elevated bunkered greens. Fairways wider that they looked. Back nine was much shorter and required a little more precision. All greens were challenging and you really need to be below the hole as the speed will make it difficult to stop at certain locations. Areas around the perimeter of the greens looked very worn( not sure that is the case all the time). Staff were all professional and friendly. Definitely worth a visit and I will go back.
Just a great day
Can't say enough about this course, had a wonderful time
Great greens running around 12
Great difference elevations.
