best course in the tri -state area
This course is the best course I have played in the tri-state area. The greens were fast and very challenging. I had a hot deal for $ 52.00. The fairways are in excellent shape, as are the greens. I have never seen a practice area this big. sand traps , chipping areas , putting greens and driving range were in perfect shape. The staff are very friendly. This a demanding course , I played from the white tees and it chewed me up.
Beautiful
This is one of the nicest courses I have played. Immaculate condition throughout the course. Great practice and warm up area. This course may have been a little beyond my skill set though. As a 20 handicap approaching 60 some of the holes were really tough. Course management and controlling your shots are very important. If you want to bomb away and tend to spray the ball you may not enjoy this.
Decent course
I do like this course. Not terribly overwhelming. decent length. Way over priced. This is a good $60.00 course in perfect conditions.
Hard summer
The summer has taken a small toll on overall conditions. That being said, still one of the best places to play in northern Delaware. 5+ hour rounds in heat and humidity never helps.
Worth the trip
I'm not a complainer, I promise. I drove from Annapolis and teed up with two members for a 7:50 tee time and no one ahead of us. I ended up playing solo after the 3rd hole only to be told no and to wait for the two members by a ranger/starter by hole 9 because maintenance was affected by my pace of play. Initially I was apologetic but I feel that by 930/10am, maintenance should have completed their morning duties. I say that with 4 years experience of golf course maintenance at a 27-hole course. I assumed maintenance would start at or just before daylight, my mistake. Regardless, our pace was still above average. Staff was pleasant and welcoming and amenities were as expected. Loved the driveable par 4s, the GPS and the challenge of forced carries. I'd definitely consider making a trip back.
Long distant between holes
One mile between holes 2 and 3. Other holes were also far apart. Most holes had natural areas to carry.
A Top Public Course
Playing for t he first time as a twosome, my wife and I were impressed by the attention by all staff including the excellent pro shop attendant. Due to heavy rainfall the night before, cart path only was required, but while there was considerable puddling on the impervious cart paths, the condition of the course itself was impressive. As with any first time play, the location of hazards and carry distances led to a number of lost balls and misdirected shots, but the overall experience was very enjoyable. While it is not a particularly short course, it certainly is capable of yielding lower scores. It more than deserves the top course rating accorded it.
I hate to admit it…
This course is too tough for me. I like everything about it, except that I’m not skilled enough to really be able to enjoy it. The layout is interesting, the course is in great shape, the folks who work there are great, and even the restaurant is fine. But I lost a dozen golf balls, and just got overwhelmed. I can usually break 100, so as you can guess, I have some stretches where I play pretty well during a round and then stretches where the wheels fall off and you move on. At White Clay Creek, I just couldn’t string anything together. The course has all the things that eat up like golfers like me, lots of water in the form of streams, ponds and wetlands; forced carries from the tee, the fairway and the approach; and tight, tree-lined and woody rough. And yet I love this course. It makes me want to be a better golfer.
Challenge to be accepted
White Clay Creek forces you to hit shots. If you’re not in control of your ball, you will be exposed. Play it for the challenge.
Staff is friendly & facility is complete. Worth the trip every time..
This for me is one of the top five public courses you can play in the tri-state area greens are fast but true and the overall course itself is in great condition, scenic layout it’s truly a course you must play and it will easily become one of your favorites
This was my first time - course was well laid out and in excellent condition. Target golf at its best - will definitely be back!
Great green condition
Green condition was awesome roll true and fast. Other than that personally just way too much creek into play just about every hole you have to force carry over a creek into fairway or to green. . And two holes there is train running literally right next to you. Mind horse racing around you. Like the track on couple of holes, overall condition was good. Also bring lot of balls of you don’t hit straight.
Punishes Big Hitters
The course is in great shape and it’s challenging. However, I’ve never had to keep driver in the bag so much. The creek is in play a lot and there are a lot of doglegs. Typically I can cut a few but there are so many trees here and they are very high that it was impossible. I can’t remember a course like this that I couldn’t cut any corners. I will probably not be back to this course for some 20 years. I feel like you have to be a shorter hitter to really like this place.
One of the best around!!
WCCCC is always a treat and pleasure to play. When you can catch a hot deal, it’s a no brainer.
The greens were insanely fast.
