Great Course poor greens
I would love to give this course a higher rating. Cougar Creek is still one of the best tracks around but...they really have to do something about their greens. The tee boxes are in good condition and the fairways are the best I have seen there. They have had an ongoing issue with their greens for close to a decade now. It has been so persistent that I am not sure that it is just winter damage anymore. Maybe it is time for them to dig them up and replace them with some new soil and sod. That said, the first three greens were really good but a bit on the slow side. Then the greens became progressively worse, with most having winter damage to some degree and some were a patchwork of new sod. They are still playable but a course of this quality should have better putting conditions. Looking forward to going back later in the summer when the greens have some time to heal.
Challenging beautiful course
Amazing landscape, nicely maintained
Recovering from rains
Challenging course, a good play!
Great day for golf
The course was a really good shape for how much rain it has seen of late. Only hole 11 was really bad. Course layout, and gps carts were fantastic. Everything was so lush and green it was a beautiful course. The greens were in pretty rough shape though I must admit. Would definitely play again especially after a couple weeks of sun once everything has dried.
Solid course
I only play this course once a year. It was in good shape, was a bit soggy but that can’t be helped after this much rain. Pace of play was a bit slow but the course was great and the staff were friendly.
Eddie
The course layout is excellent and fairways are in good shape considering the amount of rain in recent weeks. Some greens are not in the best shape, It is difficult to putt on some of the greens. Pace of play was very good.
Weekend player
This course has a fun layout with a good variety of easy and more difficult holes. Today the course was very wet all the rain made it cart path only and the greens are getting better but still have areas of winter kill. Overall given the wet condition the course is still enjoyable and the beer cart girl was excellent came by every 4 holes :-).
Cougar Golf
The course layout is challenging .The price was right , the staff are friendly. Nice short trip out of town. Surprising very few bugs. Greens still need some TLC. I would rate this course a 8 out of 10.
Lots of green damage
As with most courses in the area greens are terrible. 18 holes in 3.25 hours on a Sunday morning start time 8:20. Green will improve. Will play again in June 2019 and review again
Disappointing
I have played this course before and it was in much better shape. I realize it’s early in the season but it was cart path only and four of the greens were covered with tarps. None of this was mentioned prior to booking. Even as a “hot deal” it was anything but today.
Worth the drive
We got Cougar Creek on a hot deal for $50 per person including cart. Great layout with 4 tee boxes so it's playable for everyone. Course conditions were very good, a couple of patchy areas on some greens, but nothing too bad. I really like this course, and will definitely be back.
Challenging and scenic
First time played after a long break from it. Still like it though. Provides a good challenge for a more experienced player but a high handicapper may get discouraged. The clubhouse could use a little TLC as the bird nests on the patio speakers and the unkempt flower pots indicated. Got a chuckle out of the elderly marshal with the constant "fear my wrath" scowl on his face every time he drove past. Course was not busy this day so not sure that was needed but maybe he's just very serious about his job. Nonetheless, an enjoyable course.
Nice course layout
Overall we enjoyed our afternoon of golf at Cougar Creek. The course layout was interesting and forgiving even though there was water and sand challenges all along the way. Unfortunately the greens had a lot of winter kill/dead grass which made putting difficult to gauge and was a disappointment for the type of course this was to be & the rate they charge. We were putting on a temporary green for hole 2 so expect it's because they are working on this issue.
Course was great, tee boxes and greens were a little rough, early in the season though
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Cougar Creek Golf Club. We hope to see you again in the future.
