Awesome today
8 am tee. Great pace. Greens great condition. Moved slow due to the condensation as expected. Got faster as sun rose. Some dry areas in some fairways but still low grass to hit from. Several dog legs. Layup on a few holes for a straighter shot to pin (2, 14, 18). Wide fairways on almost all tees. Enjoy.
Always a fun challenge
Plumas Lake is always a fun but challenging , difficult golf course. Bermuda grass fairways turn brown color during the winter months. The course is in better condition than it looks because of the bermuda grass. Greens are good. Never too crowded to play on a weekday after 12 noon. Excellent value.
Nice hideaway
Grass winter feel. Nice long 5 pars. Great dog legs. Bar and Grill open. Drinks. Staff very friendly. Clean.
Fun layout, poor fairways.
Plumas Lake GC is a great layout. Unfortunately, much of the fairways have poor fairway grass density, so second shots in the fairways didn't have the spin other denser turf would afford. The rough is thick. Balls in the rough are sufficiently hidden and challenging shots out. The greens ran well. Certainly, the flat weak turf in the fairways is the weakness here.

Always fun

Slowly Going Downhill
let's hope things turn around soon, but the current trend isn't promising. I play this course a couple of times a year. The course hasn't been in really good shape for more than a decade, but my last four or five visits have left me increasingly pessimistic about its future. Dozens of different grasses (not to mention a few weeds) fill the fairways and the greens are blotchy. One feels the need to play "winter rules" year round. The layout is really pretty good and presents a true challenge to all levels of skill. Please save this course!
